Atheist Ricky Gervais – A Better Christian than Christians?
Are atheists better Christians than Christians are today? Famous comedian and English actor Ricky Gervais likes to think so.
Posting a holiday message for Easter entitled “Why I’m A Good Christian” in The Wall Street Journal, Gervais, a professing atheist, revealed that he is a “good Christian” compared to a lot of Christians.
To prove his point, he outlined the Ten Commandments and analyzed how he faired against each law. Giving himself a 10 out of 10 – passing all counts of murder, idolatry, and blasphemy – Gervais considered his perfect score “not bad for an atheist.”...

Liz Macleod Thank you for posting back to me. I apologize for just now replying I have been traveling.
www.youtube.com has a wonderful brief clip taken from Paris Reidhead's message 'So Great Salvaion' that is titled: "Come And He Will Set You Free" I believe would be a blessing to you as well.

The same way that Isaiah was made profitable, a burning coal off the altar.
Paul admonishes us: "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people" (Ephesians 5:3).
However we are undone, men of unclean lips.

Might I suggest, it is one, of many of the fruits of a broken Covenant. The apostasy and backsliding we see on every side are the symptoms and not the disease. If there are none more culpable then the Gospel Ministry for they deal with eternal souls and not bodies only, then I suggest that is where this must begin to be addressed, personally and as a moral person. Next the Congregations of the best Reformed Churches,in like manner. Then a reflective Civil Magistrate as to the reasons perfidity towards God leads to usurpation of their right to rule among a praying people, who help to keep the lid on, 'so to speak', the rebellious ilk.
Now, we can wipe the tear away from our eye to see clearly the poor pained individual households who have suffered almost to the extinction of the next generations of the godly.

Weep and repent indeed.
Perhaps the Reformers' doctrine, the "Perspicuity of Scripture," is an exaggeration.
When it comes to Christian marriage, divorce and remarriage could there be any more confusion and controversy?
Who will settle this debate? Atheists? The civil magistrate? Or perhaps another war as was required to end the Evangelical slavery debate?
If the Scripture is crystal-clear to any reader, then why the divorce and remarriage scandal in the Church?
The problem with Gervais and other atheists is that they would not know a real Christian from a giraffe.
Gervais and others think for example that Anglicans and Roman Catholics are quote, "Christians."
Satan has set up shop in the business of flogging religion so that he can taint the term Christian and deceive the people. He also puts non-Christians into the churches to get the counterfeit effect.
What many reprobates see and identify as Christian is Satan's fictitious religious actors to add to the confusion.
2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; BY REASON OF WHOM THE WAY OF TRUTH shall be evil SPOKEN of.

Perhaps he has a point: Christian marriage is the earthly symbol of Christ's infinite love for His bride, the Church. However, with a reported 50% divorce rate, even in the Church, what's our message to the unbelieving and dying world?: (A.) Our marriages are no better than yours. (B.) Our marriages are destroyed just like yours. (C.) Our Christ has failed us. God forbid this! "If marital love is not infinite, how can it be called love?" -St. Teresa of Avila
