400-year-old King James Bible found in English church
A printing error helped a 12th century English village church realize it owned a rare 400-year-old King James Bible, the book that changed the world.

The edition that had been sitting on a ledge in the pretty Anglican church in Wiltshire, central England for the past 150 years, barely touched and much less read, is one of only a handful that still exists.

Although a sign above the book indicated it dated back to 1611, it was only after the parochial church council of St. Laurence in Hilmarton decided to get it authenticated during the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible that they made their discovery. ...

It means "Let us" which implies or speculates that there is more than one who believes as Nebraska Man believes. Of course it is possible, but highly unlikely.

Does anyone else wish that people would stop using the KJV - right now?

Let's hope people stop using the AV! now

It's can be a personal desire to use a very bad Bible such as the AV, but don't push it on other people! q.v., Comparing Bible Translations--Conclusions or King James Version (KJV) ONLY???

Dr. Wallace wrote:
Martin Luther’s fine translation of the Bible into German predated the KJV by almost 100 years. Are we so arrogant to say that God has spoken only in English? And where there are substantial discrepancies between Luther’s Bible and the KJV (such as in 1 John 5:7-8), are we going to say that God has inspired both? Is he the author of lies? Our faith does not rest in a singular tradition, nor is it provincial. Vibrant, biblical Christianity must never unite itself with provincialism. Otherwise, missionary endeavor, among other things, would die.
excerpt from, Why I Do Not Think the King James Bible Is the Best Translation Available Today.

The above is almost a continuation from a previous thread, as I pointed out there, read the entire article. It isn't long.

Yes, let's hope it isn't used at all. It is time any Bible which utilises the United Bible Societies (ecumenical, liberal, Catholic, etc.) text, along with the Nestle and Kurt Aland text, is boycotted and refused by genuine Christians, and that they seek a better Bible translated from better texts. Maybe the King James Bible would fit the bill just right. Yes, I think it would.

There is a possibility that a 400 year old NIV bible might be found if the Lord tarries, but let's hope it won't be still in use! Why?
Doug Kutilek wrote:
Let me say it again--the sole justification for producing and publishing any Bible translation is so that those who do not understand the words in the original languages can nevertheless gain access to them through words they do understand in their own language.

Most English speakers cannot read Greek or Hebrew (or Aramaic--the language used in parts of Daniel, Ezra, and one verse of Jeremiah). Therefore, if they are to have access to the words inspired by God in those Biblical languages, they need a translation of those words into English. But we must be cautious here: the degree to which an English Bible translation fails to accurately, clearly, and fully convey the meaning and content of the originals, to that degree it FAILS to attain to its very reason for existence. Any obscurity, ambiguity or inaccuracy that exists in a translation--and is knowingly allowed to remain in that translation--is an affront to the very purpose for that translation's existence.

Whenever I would read it to Dr.Z. he would be afraid, cause he thought I was YELLING at him.
At any rate; I doubt if anyone will ever find a 400 yr. old copy of an niv in a church in the future.
Although they may still be able to find the nasb posts from Nebraska Man.
Nebraska Man - gotta ring to it, yeah!

I agree about the NIV. The poor dabs who own the 1979 version will probably ditch it as you might ditch an Intel Pentium 11 or a 256kb flash drive. And they might even have second thoughts about buying the latest, greatest, newest, more accurate, [utilising the United Bible Societies greek text, along with the Nestle/Aland (also ecumenists and liberals) text] NIV which will also go the same place when it doesn't reap the financial rewards they hope for.

My regards to the good doctor, and I hope he recovers real soon. People are always yelling at him, and it is not nice.

Railing against your host, SermonAudio.com, is unwise and unprofitable.

Jim
Your "expert" reference to quote "a sucker" - Does this include God since He used the KING JAMES VERSION, of the Holy Word (and of course the Textus Receptus which dates back to the early church) to build and teach His Church over the centuries?

This would mean Jim that you've committed the sin of blasphemy again.

BTW Jim, do you have actual proof that the Lord uses modern versions like your NASB, TNIV family?
