CHRISTIANS under the age of 25 are less likely to identify themselves as Evangelicals, even if they worship at Evangelical churches, a new report by the Evangelical Alliance (EA) suggests.
The report 21st Century Evangelicals: A snapshot of the beliefs and habits of Evangelical Christians in the UK, published by the EA and Christian Research, is based on the views of more than 17,000 people who completed questionnaires at Evangelical festivals and at churches affiliated to the EA during 2010.
Sixty-seven per cent of those surveyed aged between 16 and 24 considered themselves to be “Evangelical Christians”. This percentage increased with the age range: 87 per cent of those aged over 65 described themselves as Evangelical....
Hey, if the UK young want to blame American politics for how they feel about "evanglical," let them. Everyone needs someone to blame for their own shortcomings. The heart being "deceitful above all things" shows up in unusual places, doesn't it?
Just wondering if it's got anything to do with the modern televangelists or maybe the pastors of the giant megachurches who seem to propound these sentiments themselves.Perhaps if hell were preached more often than how to get rich quick in Jesus name, more than 37% would believe in the reality of it.
These men,and women too, have a responsibility to preach the word of God.They are given a huge stage, they should use it to spread the light of the gospel.Instead of promoting themselves or their latest book.
""Andy Frost, the director of Share Jesus International, is quoted as saying that younger people “don’t understand party lines and church squabbles”, and that, for them, “the word ‘Evangelical’ has been tarnished by American political agendas. “This generation simply want to get the job done. Evangelicalism needs to be redefined for them as Grace and Truth,” he said""
It's America's fault again! What are we going to do with you folks across the pond?
The real problem is that these kids have never been taught what the word "evangelical" really means.
Having said that I doubt if there are many adults around them who really know the true definition of the word. The guy quoted above doesn't seem to know what it means.
Then again how many of them know what the word Christian means.
The people featured in the article photo look like the so called charismatics, waving their arms and bleary eyed, probably making weird noises too.
