Pope rails against rise of un-Christian names
While names such as Sienna and Scarlett have become fashionable in recent years, Pope Benedict XVI called for a return to tradition.

During Mass at the Sistine Chapel, he said: "Every baptised child acquires the character of the son of God, beginning with their Christian name, an unmistakable sign that the Holy Spirit causes man to be born anew in the womb of the Church." He added that a name was an "indelible seal" that set children off on a lifelong "journey of religious faith".

According to the Office for National Statistics, celebrity names such as Ashton – after the actor Ashton Kutcher – and Lily – after the singer Lily Allen – are among the most popular in England and Wales. The names celebrities give their own children can be even more exotic. ...

Benedict XVI was correct to denounce un-Christian names. Speaking of the name Elvis. How many here believe that Elvis Presley was saved?

Well; St Elmo was the Patron Saint of Sesame Street.

And I think Herman was one of the Munster Prophets.

We are baptised into one body, Christ's body - the Church, by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Believers are not born "in the womb of the Church".

Maybe someone better tell ole red socks, he needs to read his Bible!

Neil--an excellent remark!

We could look at the name Benedict, I wonder if he means like Benedict Arnold? The Pope is certainly a traitor to Christianity.

Bill Shakespeare wrote:
Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
Also conversely a skunk is a skunk, no matter what you call it.

By the way, I have nothing against ssing names from the Bible, just don't use Jezebel for a daughter's name

Baptismal Regeneration makes you wetter but no better but that`s way beyond ole red socks & his perverted doctrine.
Ps 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Bapdismal Regeneration?- no such thing!
