Boston carolers unable to break world record held by BJU
Christmas Lighting Ceremony 2010 held on the campus of Bob Jones University.
More than 3,200 people crowded outside the Prudential Center today in an attempt to set the world record for the most Christmas carolers singing in one place at one time -- although they did not even make it by half.
The current record, held by Bob Jones University, stands at 7,514, more than twice the number who assembled in the Back Bay.
But despite the attendance, organizers and participants said the event was a cheerful way to ring in the holiday season.
"I love the sound of thousands of people singing," said Leah Bird, 57, of Newton.
I suppose it was harmless and "corny" fun. I'm not sure what sort of message is given by thousands of people who probably weren't harmonious and understandable.
Since I assume this was not done for profit, it is a better religious (?) activity than some of these Bible spelling bees.
Hebrews 13 5 Let your character be free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," 6 so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT SHALL MAN DO TO ME?"---NASB
