Scottish Reformation to be marked by joint Presbyterian-Catholic event?
The legacy of the Scottish Reformation is to be marked with a joint conference organised by the Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church in Scotland.

There will also be an evening service at the High Kirk, otherwise known as St Giles Cathedral.

Such an ecumenical event would have been difficult to conceive even 30 years ago, say the two churches.

Mutual distrust and suspicion, caricatures and stereotypes of each other inhibited positive relationships. Through patient dialogue on major theological issues, mutual respect and understanding has grown and developed - as well as much better relations at community level, where the legacy of sectarianism has been challenged - if not yet eliminated, say some critics. ...

In the Darnley case, Knox is an early example of a Christian opining publicly on civil legal matters probably way outside his purview.

Indeed, judging by what I've heard from pulpits, secular jurisprudence seems to interest modern churches far more than ecclesiastical, notwithstanding the admonitions in 1 Cor. 6.

I'm glad you gave added material, Neil, I just depended on what I read in the Wikipedia article about,John Knox, from which:

"throughout Mary's reign. In several interviews with the queen, Knox admonished her for supporting Catholic practices. Eventually, when she was imprisoned for her alleged role in the murder of her husband, Lord Darnley, and James VI enthroned in her stead, he openly called for her execution. He continued to preach until his final days."

Is the One True Church Roman Catholic?

"Pope Benedict XVI came to Scotland and met the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Right Rev John Christie - after an initial diplomatic mishap."

Mishap. Did he do that jackboot salute thing too? Prince Harry and I both made that mistake once, people are so touchy these days.

Or did the moderator forget to turn up in sackcloth and ashes, fall prostrate and worship this pretended god on earth? Now that is offensive.

"Pope Benedict XVI came to Scotland and met the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Right Rev John Christie - after an initial diplomatic mishap.
"The visit was a sign of the continuing work of Christ’s Church in the 21st century and helped strengthen interfaith and interdenominational relations," a Kirk spokesperson declared."

Looks like the Church of Scotland has cancelled the Reformation.

Thats the evil and corrupt religion of Liberalism for you.

Proverbs 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Quote # 1
""The event includes guest speakers such as former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Very Rev Dr Sheilagh Kesting, the Rev Dr Alan Falconer, Joint Convener of the Commission (and a long-term player in World Council of Churches Faith and Order issues), the Rev Dr Alison Peden, from the Scottish Episcopal Church, and Catholic historian, Professor Tom Devine.""

A Kirk Liberal.
An ecumenical Liberal.
An Anglican Liberal.
An idolatrous relic worshipping historian.

And what are they going to tell us???

One thing is for sure these reprobates will not tell anybody about the real reason for the Reformation.

Quote # 2
""Also in the line-up is Professor Paul Murray, an expert in the field of ecumenism, who will be sharing the floor with Dr Kesting discussing ecumenical relations today and in the future. Each session will run along the lines of the question, 'What has the Reformation done for us?"""

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

This line up is embarrassing to the REAL Church. Satan is really winning hearts and minds in these national churches.

My mistake: Knox did call for Mary Stuart's execution, but for her alleged role in Lord Darnley's death. It might've been better for him to be silent about that, since there is exculpatory evidence: Death of Lord Darnley

Knox's problem with both "Bloody" Mary Tudor & Mary Stuart (& Elizabeth Tudor by implication) was he did not believe women should be civil rulers, in his "The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regimen of Women." But this is no reason to imagine he thought Mary Tudor, who gained her throne lawfully, should be executed, & the Babington Plot, which implicated Mary Stuart, was exposed well after Knox's death.

Knox's fascinating interview with Mary Stuart: Knox & Mary.
Amazingly, he was not arraigned for treason (the std. charge against anyone displeasing to a monarch back then).

Protestant in Scotland, I appreciated your comments on this history and I hope I see more.

The concluding paragraph in the Wikipedia article on John Knox, "Knox was notable not so much for the overthrow of Roman Catholicism in Scotland, but for assuring the replacement of the old religion with Presbyterianism rather than Anglicanism. It was thanks to Knox that the Presbyterian polity was established.[84] In that regard, Knox is considered the founder of the Presbyterian denomination whose members number millions worldwide", from, John Knox

I see John Knox was no friend to Catholic monarchs, he advocated the execution of Mary Tutor.

Christian and Catholics -- never together!

"The legacy of the Scottish Reformation is to be marked with a joint conference organised by the Church of Scotland and the Catholic Church in Scotland."

OR
Put another way;

The LIBERAL Kirk heretics are going to natter to the antichrist's idolatrous heretics and insult the memory of the Scottish martyrs and Covenanters who died for the true cause of Christ.

Together with putting the abomination into an Aberdeen pulpit AND this ludicrous conference with the antichrist's followers - This demonstrates how satanic and lost the Church of Scotland has become.

I cannot understand why any REAL Christian attends this organisation?
_____________

The REAL Cause fought.

Patrick Hamilton (1504 ‚Äď Feb 29 1528) was a Scottish churchman and an early Protestant Reformer in Scotland.
He was tried as a heretic by Archbishop James Beaton RCC, and burned at the stake in St Andrews.

His courageous bearing attracted more attention than ever to the doctrines for which he suffered, and greatly helped to spread the Reformation in Scotland. It was said that the "reek of Patrick Hamilton infected all it blew on". His fortitude during martyrdom won over Alexander Ales, who had undertaken to convert him, to the Lutheran cause" (Wiki)

This Kirk insults his martyrdom.
