Stricken with cancer and fragile from chemotherapy, author and outspoken atheist Christopher Hitchens sits in an armchair before an audience and waits for the only question that can come first at such a time.
"How's your health?" asks Larry Taunton, a friend who heads an Alabama-based group dedicated to defending Christianity.
"Well, I'm dying, since you asked, but so are you. I'm only doing it more rapidly," replies Hitchens, his grin faint and his voice weak and raspy. Only wisps of his dark hair remain; clothes hang on his frame....
Sure am I that we all know, the more vehement the opposition, the more difficult the retraction. There but for the grace of God go we. Fortunately for Mr. Hitchens, if he truly encounters the Lord, no amount of pride will stand in his way to the cross of Christ.
Unfortunately with Hitchins, Mark 4 14 "The sower sows the word. 15 "And these are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. 16 "And in a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy; 17 and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away. 18 "And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19 and the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 "And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word and accept it, and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold."---NASB
Pray for them, but always it's God who works the miracles, and that is what it will take for Hitchins.
Click on the news article and read the comments that are posted. It will be a real eye opener for many christians to see how many people love to make vile comments about the Lord and those who belive in him.
Most of the people in my church have never read blogs and such. They would be shocked at the amount of people who really hate the God of the Bible.
Unless these people get saved, they will learn the truth the hard way.
Let's contiue to pray for Hitchens and all his followers.
Even the saved were once children of wrath just as Hitchens and all the God hating athiests. But God's mercy and grace overcame our hardness. He can do the same for them.
