Ian Paisley: Papal visit must be cancelled, he's 'not a king'
The Rev Ian Paisley has called again for the Government to cancel next week's State welcome for the Pope.
Dr Paisley, the former First Minister of Northern Ireland and founder of the Free Presbyterian church, said of the Pope's visit: “They are receiving him as a king. He's not a king.”
Pope Benedict is regarded as the Head of State of the Vatican City.
The Protestant leader told Sky News: “When the Roman Catholic people are torn asunder because of this matter that the Pope has ... closed an eye to, it is time for the Protestant people also to support them.”...
