Reverend Michael Land, 67, said Christians needed to adopt swearing in their everyday language because it is how Jesus would have spoken.
He said too many people put Jesus "on a pedestal" and failed to realise that he was poor, relatively uneducated and preferred not to mix with the elite of his day.
He added that the Church risked becoming out of touch with ordinary people if its clergy did not become "streetwise" and failed to use earthy language.
I went to Bible camp this year on Quadra Island: There was one person brought in to preach the sermons (four in three days), and a man brought in to lead the music. I was talking to the man brought in to lead the music and it turns out that he was the overseer of The Salvation Army in an area. I was shocked when he used extremely profane language to describe how much he hated his job! I told him it bothered me, so he then used a word to replace his vulgar word. He didn't use that language when he was speaking to us during our services?

In your experience then, would you say that although these contemporary churches are seeking to follow a biblical example of how to evangelise God's way, they yet end up with a form of evangelism which is neither biblical nor even similar to that which Paul the apostle engaged in?

I reckon you're a bit out of kilter on this one Joe. I know of no NT character more filled with the Spirit, and accurately led by the Spirit, than the apostle Paul. And whatever Paul did, I believe, he did it according to the will of God. Even down to his imprisonment in Phillipi and other places. That great text, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..." came to us as a result of Paul being thrown into jail with Silas. His testimony of suffering in the cause of Christ is inspirational.
And then we have to evaluate what the word "success" means in evangelistic terms. Is it the number of converts? Hardly. Is it in doing the will of God? I reckon.
The simplest believer who is continually led of the Spirit is surely successful in his evangelism, no matter the number of converts, because "salvation is of the Lord". It is only God who can "give the increase".
Incredible! I thought only modernists *dare* to question Paul's evangelistic judgment. Where does Scripture define "success" as a large number of converts? Leave that fallacy to Billy Graham, Bill Bright, et al. who are the ones who practice "one size fits all" formula evangelism.
Remember, he was speaking to an audience unfamiliar with the OT & its history & theology.
Rob Bell; the Emerging church pastor of mars hill, isn't far behind this vicar. Isn't it anazing that the place that Paul had the least success (Athens-Mars Hill)is the model for evangalism that the Contemporary, Emergent, and Circus Driven Churches want to hold up. They should go back to what Paul determined to the Corintians; not to know anything, saved Jesus Christ and him crucified. If accomodating the culture did not work for Paul, why do we think it should work for us?
Just goes to show how far the Anglican church has gone away from God and towards Satan.
Clearly this vicar is going to hell and is Liberal - NOT Christian!
No wonder that the C of E accepts sodomites and their convictions, instead of the Law of God.
It is amazing what sinners get up to when they invent their own religions. Their entire work appears to be to reject Scripture and embrace man's sin and lusts.
2Peter 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the FILTHY CONVERSATION OF THE WICKED: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds)" _____________

Jim Linkon You forgot to mention the influence of the HERETICAL ANGLICAN LIBERAL Bishops Westcott and Hort on the modern versions of NASB and NIV.
God bless Jim! I can think of three words that people may have a difficult time with in The King James version: Especially if they are not up on etymology.
In the book of John we read that Jesus The Messiah is: "The Word of God" and that creation was made through Him.
Scientists devote their lives to never ending research of creation: In this falling short in their understanding, even though they are highly educated by men.
John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
This Vicar in question is quoted: "He said too many people put Jesus "on a pedestal" and failed to realize that he was poor, relatively uneducated and preferred not to mix with the elite of his day."
The Vicar doesn't seem to be connected with the Divine Nature of Christ: With the realization that all things that were made were made through Jesus. Jesus understands all the complexities of creation and human nature. Christ Jesus has had no need to have teachers, because He is our Teacher. Our Lord and Messiah, is Prophet, Priest and King: Many ancient prophets shrunk away from the elite, yet were God's elect.
clearly Reverend Michael Land does not read the Bible. It is frankly dangerous to listen to him preach. I urge his parisioners to leave his church and get out from under his ministry.
Colossians 3 8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Colossians 4 5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how you should respond to each person. Ephesians 4 29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.---NASB
I suppose one has to continually hear nonsense, from the representatives of an anti-Christian Church, as the Anglican Church is of course.
Many English Dissenters recognized this syncretic church as a false church from its beginning.
