Judge rules evangelist can hand out Bibles at Pride Festival
After a week of intense debate that culminated in arguments about the Constitution in a federal courtroom, a judge Friday affirmed a Wisconsin evangelist's right to hand out Bibles at this weekend's Twin Cities Pride festival in Minneapolis' Loring Park.

U.S. District Court Judge John Tunheim ruled that the First Amendment gives Brian Johnson the right to evangelize there as long as he's not disruptive.

To Love is to tell the truth such as to bennefit the beloved. The opposite of love is not hate, but apathy. It is the very thing needed by a person who knows the truth in order for them to allow another person to continue down the broad road to destruction.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." John 14:6

God commendeth His love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

You're right, and they are
1. Normal
2. Abnormal

Adam and Eve experienced the normal until the fall, then they experienced the abnormal, then they were both redeemed and experienced the normal again, but with reservations and difficulties, which hampered the normal life.

In the New Testament period and since [LTRU], humanoids have been born with an abnormal life, until they are redeemed, regenerated, and become new creatures in Christ, but even so, as Adam and Eve experienced, there is still an abnormality within, as John Owen saith many moons ago, and thus we have that dilemma of conflict, in which we must wage war against our very being, and bring it into subjection, not bashing it to bits, as Luther attempted as a Romish Rhubarb, but through discipline, prayer and watchfulness, lest an old man break through, and the abnormal rears its ugly head, in which case we should say out loud: "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" and not be sparing, lest he regain consciousness and gain the upper hand, in which case we should say out loud: "NO SURRENDER!", and go on to fight for our very lives and the normality of God-given triumphant living!

The question is why just this event?

Why does he not hand out Bibles to all and sundry as a daily practice?

There are many people who attend churches and don't get the truth from Scripture.
Why should he expect the reprobate and especially the sodomite to be any wiser?

OR
Does he have the SPIRIT???

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The pearls speak of the Gospel.

Matthew 7:6
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

The picture of the dog returning to its own vomit, and the swine being unclean need to be remembered. The pearls here is the Gospel, given out and rejected by those who love their sin and return to their vomit. It is these unrepentant to whom the pearls are not to be cast again.

btw, it makes no sense to say it's ok to speak the Gospel, but not ok to hand it out via the Bible.

Now this is an interesting post. We have the commission to "preach the gospel to every creature" but not to cast our pearls before swine. So how do we preach the gospel to the swine?

One way is to at least offer them the opportunity to read for themselves a Gospel of John. If they refuse it, then as far as God is concerned, they have heard the gospel and will be accountable. Conversely, we shall be accountable if we do not reach them with the gospel.

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
John 20:30-31 KJV

I am thrilled with the TBS Gospel of John (Authorized Version) and SermonAudio joint effort, which will assist in reaching a multitude of folks with the glorious news that a Saviour has died (for sins) and risen again and saves all who call upon him with a penitent heart.

Obviously preaching is God-ordained, but who will regularly preach in the streets?

I appreciate your post, although I would not shut the door on giving a Bible to someone who would read it for themself...sadlly it seems in today's "churches" Bibles are hardly more than a religious decoration to some to be carried around and flip open in Sunday School and Church service.

In my opinion in our present day churches (and a whole heap of pastors and youth leaders) need preaching that "causes a disturbance" and calls them to REPENTANCE that would wake people up from their tranquility in passive, do nothing, worldly sinful imitation of Christianity with the Truth, and the reality of the coming judgment of God.
