Interfaith school for military chaplains dedicated
Priests, rabbis, imams and Protestant ministers who serve as U.S. military chaplains came together Thursday to dedicate themselves and the nation's first joint military school for tending warriors' souls.
"We deploy side-by-side. We minister to all, side-by-side. It is only fitting that we train side-by-side," said Chaplain Maj. Gen. Cecil Richardson, the Air Force Chief of Chaplains, at the dedication of the new Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center
Congress ordered the military services five years ago to merge their disparate chaplain and chaplain assistant schools. Representatives of the Army, Navy and Air Force said they put aside differences of military culture to build a multi-faith education center....
This term "Interfaith" gives the impression of being "interdenominational". Nothing could be further from the truth. Ther is a big difference between a Baptist and Presbyterian listening to a sermon, and a christian and a muslum serving and worshiping together.
I'm a little suprised something like this hasn't happened already.
USS Dorchester sank during WWII, in which 4 chaplains of different faiths went down with that ship while fellowshipping with one another in their last moments, after giving up their life jackets so others could be saved.
Fans of interfaith would surely use this powerful event as a rallying cry to accomplish the things mentioned in this article by now.
""Priests, rabbis, imams and Protestant ministers who serve as U.S. military chaplains came together Thursday to dedicate themselves and the nation's first joint military school for tending warriors' souls.""
There is no such thing as "Interfaith"
Faith is trust in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God's Holy Word.
Anything else is heresy and cannot "tend" any soul!
"2Cor 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
