Christian preacher fined for speaking on homosexuality

Shawn Holes was preaching in Glasgow when he was arrested.

A street preacher has been fined £1,000 by a Scottish court after answering a question about homosexuality.

Shawn Holes, who is American, was kept in a police cell overnight and then charged with a breach of the peace.

The accusation was that he had used “homophobic remarks” that were “aggravated by religious prejudice”.

What did John the Baptist’s preaching cost him? It cost him his life (Matthew 14:1-12).

Maybe he was guilty of speaking the Truth of the Gospel, and he admitted to that? I don't see where that makes him weak......Have any of you been arrested yet for Christ? It is time for you closet christians to come out and make a stand for Christ like this hero of the Faith did. Soli Deo Gloria. If he is guilty of anything is would be that he is a fool for Christ...who's fool are you?

Wow, don't be so naive. I know a missionary in a Muslim country who says, it's not women getting raped by the men in that country, but boys! He says it's a Big problem! I guess it's just covered up, kind of burka style.

Holes, got no backbone..
Well said - the tragic thing is that, having got back home and having read comments by myself and others on his blog, Mr Holes indicated when questioned on a radio show about his decision to plead guilty that he had no regrets about his decision. Somehow, I can't imagine the apostles or martyrs down through the centuries taking the same approach. Christ warned that we would be brought before courts and authorities and he assumed that we would plead not guilty, as he referred to "trial" and "defend yourself" - and stressed that the purpose of being in court was to "bear witness". What kind of witness is it to admit you are a public menace? That answering a question accurately from Scripture is a crime? He said they were "trumped up charges", so it was what is called a "plea of convenience" - had the court been aware of that, his plea would not have been accepted.

How the devil gets fellow Christians to criticize each other during persecution is perhaps the most troubling aspect of my Christian walk.

Those who would remove the freedom of speech in Scotland need to be removed from office. Christians and all other decent, freedom-loving Scots should take a strong stand and not allow this to happen!

Pray for judgment on countries like this.
If you pray in the Spirit, being led by the Spirit, in the will of God, your prayers will be answered.

But if it is not in the Spirit, and you are not exercising obedience to the law of Christ, you are likely to be chastised yourself.

In the meantime:

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..." Acts 16:31.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:17 KJV

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10 KJV

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1 John 2:2-3 KJV

Cezar said,
"Pray for judgment on countries like this."

What really should be prayed for is for God to send forth Faithful, Spirit-filled men of God to preach the whole counsel of God's Word.

1John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Why not pray for their repentance and that God may reprove them of sin, righteousness and of judgment?

You guys (Scotland) need a 1st Amendment.

Not that we always consistently manifest our own (what, with all the so-called hate-speech litigation here in the USA these days!).
