Pope Benedict told Rome's Lutheran congregation on Sunday that Protestants and Roman Catholics should be thankful for all the unity achieved among Christians rather than complain about the slow pace of dialogue.
Addressing about 350 Lutherans in their small church, Benedict said both sides had accused each other of slowing down the ecumenical movement, but that only God, not humans, could create true unity.
The movement has brought Christian churches closer together in recent decades but has lost momentum lately....
Would it not worry the Pope that the bible "WARNS" us of this unity? And that this unity WIIL HAPPEN in the end times?
Rome has to widen the definition of what a Christian is. Rome's christian has to accept what the bible expressly forbids, i.e, sinless Mary as a co-redemptrix, unfinished work of our Lord at the cross -Eucharist, praying to the dead for help, images and artifacts as objects of worship, etc..,
There IS a Christian unity in a biblical sense. Then there is a christian unity of Rome. RC'cism is not Christian. Rome has had to widen the doors for itself to come in as a "christian", along the way opening the door for non-Christians and others with similar heresy and apostasy. Rome can find ready acceptance for unity among these bad bunch of "christians". It's the real Christians that have been a thorn on RC's side.

Orach Ah! The kind of comment JY deserves.
If he wants unity with denominations that ...let's see ordain homosexuals, justify abortion, deny the literal 6 days of creation, deny the global flood of Noah's day, claim there are other ways to the Father than Christ alone, believe Christians and Muslims worship the same God, deny there is a straight gate and a narrow path that leads to salvation and just saying 'Lord, Lord' won't save a hypocrit from the very real and eternal hell some denominations are denying exist - hey let him go for this so call "unity".
But, John Y., how often have I pointed out that my pastor has always spoken out against Reversing the Reformation, more times than I want to count.
Galatians 1 8 But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. 10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.---NASB. The Roman Catholic Church is accursed. So why would any Christian want any association with it?

Of course we wouldn't John.
However we would note that ecumenism is alright for heretics such as the Roman Catholic church, Anglicans, JW's and all the other heretics.
