The Rev. Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners, a network of progressive Christians, says Beck perverted Jesus' message when he urged Christians last week to leave churches that preach social and economic justice.
Wallis says Beck compared those churches to Communists and Nazis.
Wallis says at least 20,000 people have already responded to his call to boycott Beck. He says Beck is confusing his personal philosophy with the Bible.

Mike, which god does Glenn Beck fear? Mormons believe there are millions or billions of gods. I only know of one that can be or should be feared.

from Wallis comments I think he does more harm than good. Both fox News and Beck have spearheaded the resistance to the socialist/communist movement to the left and if Wallis wants to be useful why not spend your time trying to boycott the left and the liberal drive by media and stop attacking Fox and Beck. .Do you mind if I'm a bit skeptical about changing 20,000 minds?
Wow, everyone quoted in this article is messed up! Mr. Duren from the SBC says, "For a long time, Southern Baptists and evangelicals were so focused on the return of Christ that what was happening in the real world was almost incidental." Waiting for the return of Christ is the real world! He is what we have to offer a hopeless, oppressed world.
Also, though, God tells us to fight for the oppressed and vulnerable: the widow, the orphan, the alien. Throughout the Old Testament, He is angry with Israel for further oppressing these weaker ones.
Most of the great issues of social justice have been led by Christians because of their devotion to Jesus Christ, i.e. William Wilberforce and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to name just two.
And everyone looking to Glen Beck for answers: BEWARE!!! Jack Rabbit is right; he is "loco." It's because Mr. Beck is a Mormon (see link below).

Christians need to run from Glen Beck; he is nothing but a mole planted to root out true conservatism. Listen to the man, look at the man, you will see that his thinking is really "loco". This man has no idea of what the constitution stands for. Glenn Beck is hot air; he doesn't even understand the issues in light of holiness and the constitution. If evangelical's think that Glenn Beck is a leader, then evangelicals need to get out scripture and study and pray for the enlightment of the Holy Spirit. This man has already betrayed anything that is holy and worthwhile. Do not trust this man; infact trust only God!
Wallis, the great purveyor of truth! Leader of "progressive" Christians. Meaning they are as politicized as the right, but pretend it's out of compassion.
Beck the great pervayor of truth!! The great discerner of a good church! The not-called-out-one, telling the called-out-ones where to go. The great divider of all things into half. Jump into one box or the other, my brothers and sisters, and he will tell you you are good! I only believe it if Fox tells me its true.
I like to view Beck on Fox News Channel. In fact I like most of the programming on Fox News Channel because Fox News Channel is a conservative television network and I am a conservative Democrat.
