Most Americans move their clocks ahead for daylight-saving time in the wee hours of the second Sunday in March. The day of the big switch used to be the first Sunday of April, but in 2005, Congress revised the rule as an energy-saving measure. ...

Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years

God set the first clock on us.

Imaginative stories have been put forth that justify DST by alleging that it can save energy. Does it matter if we use less electricity in the evening but more in the morning?

KC, you could easily refute hearsay like that with a little research. The water clock was invented by the ancients long before there were Christians, let alone Jesuits.

Timekeeping has been vital for navigation, it being the most reliable way to determine longitude until GPS (which relies on clocks as well). The first marine chronometer was invented by Englishman John Harrison.

But it is true, Catholic monastic orders (not just Jesuits) used clocks in the Medieval era for timing their rote prayers.

I heard the Jesuits are responsible for inventing the clock so every minute of our lives could be regimented.

I grew up in Indiana, where they did not practice the time change. All I can tell that the time change has done, is to confuse, and aggravate people, as well as make them late (or early, as the case may be)for church, and work.
