40,000 Haitians profess faith in Christ since Jan. 12 quake
A reported 40,127 Haitians have made professions of faith in Jesus Christ since a major earthquake hit the impoverished nation in January, according to pastors and directors of missions within the Confraternite Missionaire Baptiste d'Haiti (CMBH).

"Haiti is ripe for a spiritual movement from God," said Craig Culbreth, director of the Florida Baptist Convention's partnership missions department, which coordinates the work of the CMBH, upon his Feb. 22 return from Port-au-Prince.

Haiti is on a major fault line and most of the houses destroyed were poorly built. People just never thought something like that could happened even though it happened over 100 years ago. Even in giving the testimony on how God saved some is delicate for fear of hurting the feelings of other Christians who were hurt. One lady from my church lost her 3 daughters, her son is in a Florida hospital in serious condition. As a pastor, I do not have an explanation for her. I can only pray with her and for her and be careful not to hurt her With the grace that was given to me. and it is the same in preaching.
Real-life situations often promote understanding; but in many cases, it leaves us saying, "I don't know why this happened." I personally don't have a problem with that, and it is good to comfort God's suffering people with grace upon grace. One thing for sure: God is Good.

We believers took the earthquake rather as a warning signal both for the Church and the unconverted. A signal for the Church to wake up and get busy for the Lord; and a signal to unconverted to get right with God and repent. But every sector was hurt in this earthquake. Christians and non-christians alike died. But there are also many miracle stories. God has used different ways to save some people, my family being of those. But I would never think it was because we were better than those who perished. Many God-fearing Christians died.

The true church does exist inthe country and we know this claim is not true. the sad thing is that many people are believing that just because they participated in this 3-day "fast"they are saved, and it is difficult to teach these people that participation in an event cannot save you, but only faith in Jesus-Christ, repentance from your sin, etc. It is just so sad.
It is rather as I thought mm, and I lament with you, as it tends to make the true preaching of the gospel even more difficult. Thankfully, God is able to remove any barrier and still receives them that come to Christ in true fashion.

Tell me, as we have been debating the cause of the earthquake (whether it be simply a result of Haiti being on a major fault line and therefore susceptible, or an actual judgment of God against the voodoo and other occult practices there).....what do the believers on Haiti make of it? And if you believe it was God's wrath against sin, did he make a difference and protect his own, thus enlarging the argument, and making it possible to witness more effectively?

I am sorry to disappoint you people, but this was all an emotional reaction to fear. Why would the people come to Christ when Protestants gathered with voodoo worshipers, freemasons and the likes for a supposedly 3 day of fast that was nothing less than a carnival with Jesus'name. Nobody needed to repent since the message from the leaders was that we are all one no matter who we worship. Haiti might be infamous for being the country where the new world religion starts since these people, protestants (baptist included) and others started a new religion called "The Lord's army" where anyone can come "worship". no need for repentance, just follow the rituals. So Haiti needs prayers more than ever, more than we need the rice and other stuff that are being distributed to us.

has someone been at the tipex or been to vigurous over what they have to drink?. Avowed Satanists are now Christians as they loot and smash each other over the head for their belongings. Apparently, before God's judgement fell upon this country there were thousands, upon thousands converted to Christ, along with those in the Philipines. The devils profess Christ, on mass, there being not one devil that does not profess Christ, does this make them any the better? Shallow age of shallow figures of shallowness.

So, let's remove David from the Bible since he did the same thing. Let's go through history and blacklist every Christian who has failed at some point in their lives. Many of the speakers listed on Sermon Audio, including the Puritans, have had failures (even sin) disrupt their service for God.

Besides, I believe Scofield's sinful lifestyle occured before he was saved. Please read the bio I mentioned earlier. Dwight L. Moody and Hudson Taylor knew Scofield better than we do.

christians slip up ok but they dont make a habit of infidelity, schofield deserted his wife and children destitute whilst he took up with another woman and went around flogging his reference bible which wasnt very good anyway

No, I don't use a Scofield Bible. I prefer a plain text King James Bible with nothing else in it. However, I do know about Scofield. The vast majority of the stories about him have been greatly taken out of context for the benefit of those who dislike him. Did he have problems? Yes. Did he sin? Of course. So did David. So did the apostle Paul. Scofield did the same thing David and Paul did - he asked the Lord to forgive him. God can and will use anyone who so desires it. Even those who have failed.

A good, brief biography on Scofield can be found at www.wikipedia.org. It is factual and without needless bias. Please note those who considered him a close friend.

seriously tho thank heavan for election - how on earth do the arminists sleep at night with all those people going to hell and its basically their fault for not convincing them to be saved? especially since from my observation the churches mostly work very hard at ....well...concealing the gospel is mainly what they do !
Seems like you've got the situation sorted Charles....you're on the button there. And it is very sad to see it being worked out firsthand. The only cure for the arminist is to have a revelation of God which shakes his self-confidence and causes him to look away from himself to Christ. Oh that the whole world might see that our own efforts are worth nothing, but that Christ has done ALL, and we can simply trust him with our eternal souls!!

I'm glad to see you are understanding that it is biblical Christianity to be nice to one another, or doesn't your great sense of humour allow for that?

Thanks for the enquiry June ! I am hugely flattered that you should seek my worthless opinion but, and may i be regarded amongst the least of your friends i shall offer what pitiful scraps of knowlege i can !

AiG is great and im a fan i use their resources quite a bit, their message made a big impact on me when i came across them - Genesis is the foundation of all biblical understanding thats why its peculiar that they offer SRB

I did not know this! Is AIG in your opinion an unreliable source for Christian studying? I confess too, though I have heard of josephus, I know very little about him. Can you instruct me?

I tell you what, Charles, not one religious person showed any interest in this boozer before conversion, unless you count a young Catholic and his girlfiend who sometimes would say a word of two down the local pub. But once I'd been converted....man...they came from everywhere...all wanting me to join 'their' brand of religion. All shapes and sizes came at me....all, that is, except the Reformed people who, so believing in God's providence and sovereignty, left me to find my own way home.

But there's hardly a soul in this world (except brothers like Stormin Norman) who will seek out and save the lost, just like our Saviour did.

It is fortunate that, even in the Old Testament, the Lord vouchsafed to seek out his lost sheep himself, because of laziness on the part of his church.

Charles, you've now added two extra words to my vocabularly: arminist and charismaniac.....love it!

#1 A C.I. Scofield Bible
#2 A Peak's Commentary on the Whole Bible.
It took a long while before I realised the Scofield was bad news, but the first verse I looked up in the Peak was John 3 about being born again. What I read there was amazingly pathetic and I knew this man was NOT born again.
That is unfourtunate John ! Being waylaid by the charismainiacs and then the schofield 'refernce' bible !

That schofield was a bad boy and no way a christian, exactly the sort to 'make merchandise of you' that you mentioned earlier, fred phelps did an interesting sermon on him a while back

apparently he left his first wife and kids and took up with another plus a bunch of other stuff

yet they laud him

For some peculiar reason ken ham at AIG can be seen advertising the schofield refernce bible and saying what a wonderful thing it is - extraordinary such a shame as it is them that reprinted for the first time in many many years the complete works of josephus

oh yes one can grasp the essentials of Gods doctrines and sometimes diecern his providence but more tyan that i believe is given to no man apart from the prophets of course, the real ones not todays charismaniacs

One thing we can know-God doesn't contradict himself. So when we say he ordains this or that specific thing, "this" ought never to contradict "that." We also needn't attribute contradictions, when they do appear, to his being higher than our understanding. Instead, we should consider adapting our understanding of ordaining, to his non-contradiction of himself.
Which means, Mike, in simple AV language?
