Atheist groups spread message on Sacramento-area billboards
Ever look skyward for spiritual inspiration? You won't find it on 10 new billboards that just went up in the Sacramento region.
A coalition of atheist and agnostic groups has bought billboard space to tell like-minded individuals they are not alone – but not in the godly sense.
The billboards say: "Are you good without God? Millions are." The message appears on a background of fluffy white clouds and blue sky.
I stayed in the Sacramento area for a while - some of the direct descendants of the Donner party are there, but I think this is strictly California liberals in tune with the mindset of their liberal politicians. Nevertheless, there are many really godly people living in CA - may God bless them to be strong in their answers to this latest assault of "we don't need God" campaign.
Per the one billoard message, let's define "good". In Luke 18 Jesus asks the question of a ruler, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God". Now certainly Jesus indicated that this ruler did not even know who he was approaching - if he had, the ruler would not have flippantly addressed him as just a "good teacher". But Jesus also points out the fact (as does Paul in Rom 3:10 and following) that there is none truly good except God. Men are capable of doing many relative good things without God's saving grace, such as giving to the poor, not commiting adultery with his neighbor's wife, not stealing time from his boss, and even not coveting the things that do not belong to him. But even if there is a man who claims these works, if not wrought in the cleansing blood of Christ, they shall not be acceptable to God on the day of judgment and therefore not truly good in God's eyes after all.

That is, if they are willing to take the same pay & actually work hard. They might even get a little more for the talent of English fluency! Just an anecdote: we hired an American landscaper. His sons were shirkers, the Mexicans were workers.
Not surprising. My grandfather, and my dad, were hard-working immigrants. Legal, of course.

Mike, This is why it seems so strange that the "minority" is now telling the "majority" what "offends" them and we are supposed to be concerned and give a rat's
Yesterday, one of these saps said she was "offended" when I sang "I'm Proud to be a Mexican" to the tune of "I'm Proud to be an American", the Lee Greewood hit after 9/11. My name is "Lee Greenback" for this sleeper hit and have some fake sideburns and mustache to match the toupee I'm wearing when I sing this masterpiece that we wrote to wake up the sleeping public!
My goal is to get on "America's Most Wanted" or "America's Got Talent". (Either one I'll get my picture taken!)
Our country has been involved in other countries hopeless problems for too long and sicne we now get NO Respect or Support, let's call in our Armed Forces stationed all over the world and let all these third world countries work out their own problems because we have not helped any of them so far.
Every day we are invaded by Mexico on our borders! Let's stope this nonesense and put our own citizens back workin
You do have to wonder why they feel threatened by what they hold to be a non-existent God. But there isn't much evidence atheists are agreeable to reason.
Those childish slogans are a piece of cake for reasonably knowledgeable Christians to refute, just as "bumper sticker" Christianity (e.g. "Got God?") is no threat to atheism, either.
Billboards are in general a lousy medium for disputation.
These athetist billboards are just a preview of the ones for their holiday which is celebrated on April Fool's Day that is coming up in a couple of months.
Let me see if I have this straight that these are the "fool's" that don't believe in a God, but are then "offended" if you pray to the God that they don't believe in.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 14:1 (KJV)
To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. Psalm 53:1 (KJV)
Haven't seen any Atheist billboards here in Northern CA, but have seen plenty of Islamic billboards, encouraging people to read the Koran and explore Islam. No Hindu or Buddhist billboards up yet, but I assume they're on the way.

Its reassuring to reflect on this passage when we see the products of the reprobate mind such as this
It also represents a good Gospel oppurtunity (all things work to the benefit of the elect !) We can test the atheists claim about being 'good' by running them thru the law.
I picked up a one legged hitchhiker yesterday (I usually run them over but i felt like doing something nice for a change) it was dark and late and I preached the law and judgement and complicated theology like um..if we believe that Jesus is God the son and believe upon Him for remission of sin then we shall be saved from punishment for all our lieing and stealing and cursing God. It went down pretty well I think

Atheists represent the reprobates which are not chosen by God unto salvation. (Most of mankind) They are destined for hell and need to be pitied. The fact that they ramble on about their lack of knowledge is irrelevant.
From the beginning God only chose a Remnant and that remains true even today.
Ro 9:21 "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?"
Ro 11:5 "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace."
