Faith Healing Trial Gets Underway in Portland, Oregon
In Portland, Oregon a family whose members belong to a fundamentalist Christian group that doesn't believe in using modern medicine but relies on prayer instead has refused medical treatment in emergencies, and consequently children have died. The Portland Oregonian and the local television news in the Portland area have been covering the news regularly because it involves multiple family members in an ongoing investigation of a religious group involved in faith healing that opposes modern medicine. The Oregonian wrote about this family in a Sunday article, focusing on the history of the family in relationship to its involvement in the Followers of Christ Church.

It is difficult to understand how anyone could read the bible and come away with the conclusion that God does not work through means.

To presume upon God. To believe that it is God's will whether one live or no, should include whether there is medical treatment or no. Contradictory thinking.

This is one of the worst-written articles I've seen in a long time. Wordy repetition, "often don't have no medical records" etc.

As always, the people are identified as belonging to "a fundamentalist Christian group" - remember, there is no media bias. These people are about as Christian as the people who make perpetual motion machines are scientists.
