Archbishop of Canterbury claims higher taxes would be good for society
Dr Rowan Williams said that taxation should not be seen as a way of stifling business or redistributing wealth but helping to make the world a better place in which to live.

He called for new levies to be introduced on financial transactions and carbon emissions, and an end to the idea that unlimited economic growth is desirable.

The archbishop also claimed reality television gives us ‚Äúalarming glimpses‚ÄĚ of what the world would look like were everyone to be governed by self-interest.

It is obvious that Rowan is an upper middle class yuppie (otherwise known as a Liberal twit) with a disdain for the poor who cannot afford anymore taxes in this overtaxed country. His god is mammon but what can you expect from someone who cannot tell the Bible from the bus timetable.

I thought Rowan Williams was the ventriloquist but now I realize he really is the dummy.
What took me so long to cotton on?

Rowan Williams has a conflict of interest on this subject, being a state hireling.

I have trouble imagining *anyone* on a gov't payroll advocating low taxation.

Until he offers proof that higher taxes can "make the world a better place in which to live" this is just uninformed nonsense by someone who does not understand business, economics, and personal finance. Has Rowan Williams ever in his life had a real job he had to work to earn money to feed himself?
He's a liberal. Nonsense is the liberal's way.
