U.S.: Army Sends Infant to Protective Services, Mom to Afghanistan
U.S. Army Specialist Alexis Hutchinson, a single mother, is being threatened with a military court-martial if she does not agree to deploy to Afghanistan, despite having been told she would be granted extra time to find someone to care for her 11-month-old son while she is overseas.
Hutchinson, of Oakland, California, is currently being confined at Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah, Georgia, after being arrested. Her son was placed into a county foster care system.
Hutchinson has been threatened with a court martial if she does not agree to deploy to Afghanistan on Sunday, Nov. 15. She has been attempting to find someone to take care of her child, Kamani, while she is deployed overseas, but to no avail....

Women are to be workers in the home. Not soldiers. I realize that things happen that leave people single parents. However if she did not join the military to begin with she could be there for her child. Just because women are capable of doing some of the things men can do that does not mean that they should or that it is their place to do so.
I wish I could get some answers, on how to get a hold of this Alexis. My wife and I would so take care of her son, we have kids of our own and are faithful born again bible believers. But I can't find anything on her contact info. Also they are keeping her here until they figure out what they're going to do.
Loredal, you stated the obvious, but thank you for doing that, women should not be in the military, and certainly not under these circumstances. Strange, if a woman gets pregnant on active duty, they just send her home, and I do believe discharge her. They should have done it to this woman as well, which would be the best for all concerned.
Not exactly the brightest idea to be a single mum in the military is it. This is where a husband and marriage are a more sensible way of bringing up children.
