Henderson is a peppy, unassuming man in his early 50s, a Jerry Falwell-trained Baptist minister. After serving for many years as the spiritual leader of a megachurch in suburban Minneapolis, he left the pulpit and founded Strategic Renewal, a nonprofit organization that holds âprayer summitsâ and how-to-worship seminars around the country. (Henderson was also a contributor to the magazine Pray!, which recently went out of business.) âThe fact is, most pastors never learn how to really pray,â he explained. âThey get to the seminary, and people just assume they know how to pray. But thatâs not true. Prayer is a lot more than reciting words. It requires mastering both theory and technique.â...
Rom 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered"
Prayer theory and technique! Why I guess I did have enough faith I just didn't know the proper theory to get that fancy car and house and millions of dollars of blessings.
Will God really not answer the prays of his children if they don't know proper theory? Certainly many of us need to work on our prayer life - and I agree that we can learn from our elders. But I think they are taking this a bit too far here.
