The Pew Forum's Religious Landscape Survey in 2007 found that seven in 10 Americans who have a religion believe there is more than one path to salvation. A growing number of people are contemplating more than one each. And they are contemplating contemplation itself.
There are Jubus — Jews who bring Buddhism into their practice of Judaism — and Bujus, who are Buddhists with Jewish parents. Then there are UUbus, or Unitarian Universalist Buddhists, and Ebus, or Episcopalian Buddhists. There are Zen Catholics.

I think it's safe to assume that many of these churches and organizations want to please the 600lb gorilla in the neighborhood, The Romish Church. If again you read John's article even surrounding the quotations I gave J.Paul 2 was a closet Universalist, who was ready to burst out of it. This is one reason that many churches are so welcoming to foreign religions because the Romish Church is, very much so, until it can reel them in that is.

Jim I'll probably regret asking, but out of curiousity what does the above have to do with Buddhism?

John MacArthur wrote: What about...what about the issue of salvation? How did Pope John Paul II view salvation being an informed Catholic? Well he was a modified universalist, okay?... the Pope said this, "The images of hell that sacred Scripture presents to us must be correctly interpreted. They show the complete frustration and emptiness of life without God....""Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God who is the source of all life and joy....""Eternal damnation remains a real possibility, but we're not granted without special divine revelation the knowledge of whether or which human beings are effectively involved in it....And then he said this, "The thought of hell must not create anxiety or despair." Well isn't that kind? That is so kind. And you know the devil would want to minimize hell, wouldn't he? Make it go away."
"The Dalai Lama arrived in Edinburgh, the Scottish capital, on the afternoon of 21 June 2012. He held a private viewing of archive material about Tibet during a visit to the National Library of Scotland this morning.
Today he is giving a talk at the city's Usher Hall with the title, 'Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World'"
The Dalai Lama comes to Scotland to teach the Scots about ethics "Beyond Religion"
And guess who one of the sponsors is... The Church of Scotland.
Quote; "One of the largest religion and culture events in Britain, the Festival of Spirituality and Peace (www.festivalofspirituality.org.uk/) features 400 performances and conversations across 23 venues, attracting around 20,000 people. It is sponsored and supported by the Church of Scotland, Christian Aid, Edinburgh City Centre Churches, Edinburgh City Council, Edinburgh Inter-Faith Association, Ekklesia think-tank, the Iona Community, the Scottish Government, St John’s Episcopal Church Edinburgh, and the University of Edinburgh."
Ah well I expect the Kirk will forget the Bible completely and issue out orange togas instead.
John, this why you are a heretic, Doctrinal Smorgasbord?, because that is how the RCC looks upon people who believe such nonsense, and of course Christians have no use for people who practice syncretism either, The Doctrine of Apostates.

John Yurich USA When you get this matter straightened out you will need go witness to your brother.
Leaving the RCC is or can be evidence one has been saved! Jesus Christ saves from sin and He leads His own out of it. The RCC is NOT a true church because they are in spiritual whoredom. They profess to have Jesus, and a false lifeless piece of bread baby jesus at that AND they have their idolatry an iniquity that Yahweh says of those who hate Him.
But hey! John, I posted to you years ago that you have made up your own religion to suit yourself and I must warn you if you continue unrepentant in your disobedience to Jesus Christ don't expect to be among the SAVED in heaven ......and it will not be that no one urged you to make sure your salvation either.
Do this, make your calling and election sure. Either get saved because you really aren't or put to death the things you love more than Jesus Christ......and you won't out of love for Christ have any problem leaving the RCC or any other 'nondenominational' church that is in apostasy.

Since when is leaving the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church and Mainline Protestant Churches after receiving Jesus as ones Savior a requirement for gaining entrance into Heaven? There is only one requirement for gaining entrance into Heaven and that is to receive Jesus as ones Savior. Do you actually believe that when everybody stands before Jesus after they pass away that He will require for entrance into Heaven that everybody had belonged to an Evangelical Protestant Church in addition to having received Him as their Savior? That is totally unscriptural because nowhere in the Bible is church membership equated with gaining entrance into Heaven. My Born Again Non Denominational brother believes that the RCC is a True Church because the RCC believes in the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity.

Jim: You are partially correct. I believe that Catholicism is a True Church because it acknowledges the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity and it worships Jesus as God. But I do not believe that one can believe in Purgatory and the other unscriptural Catholic doctrines and gain entrance into Heaven. There are Catholics who are Born Again by reason of having prayed to Jesus and asked Him to become their Savior and thus they will gain entrance into Heaven if they reject and repudiate the unscriptural Catholic doctrines and the unscriptural parts to the Mass, adhere only to the scriptural Catholic doctrines and only participate in the scriptural parts to the Mass.
Those individuals who believe that there is more then one path to salvation are insane and psychotic mentally deranged morons. And those individuals who believe that they can simultaneously practice Christianity and some Non Christian religion such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam are insane and psychotic morons. It is impossible to do such a thing because Christianity acknowledges the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity whereas Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam deny the Deity Of Jesus and the Holy Trinity.
You gentlemen have done a good job of pointing this out is a load of rubbish.
John 10 7 Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly.
John 14 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. 2Corinthians 6 17 Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you,

When your religious philosophy includes The Wizard of Oz and the yellow brick road - then you have really lost the plot.
And this little quote; "For many Christians cut off from the past, or alienated from the faith of their upbringing, Buddhism has served as the bridge to ancient wisdom." - has to be the stupidest statement of all.
These would be "Christians" who are NO MORE Christian than a plastic duck.
But there is a precedent here - the Archbishop of Canterbury became a druid just after his inauguration. But thats Anglicalism for you - NOT Christianity.

Think of the layers of delusion and error contained in this little phrase: "laicized priest, Zen master and professor of world religions at Southern Methodist University"!!!!
I have bad news for Mr. Habito: This trend and movement will definitely be reversed when Jesus comes in judgment and wrath. Repent now, while there is yet time!
