Obama, Biden, professor, officer sit down over brews
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama sat down for a beer at the White House Thursday night with a top African-American professor and the police officer who arrested him earlier this month.

They were joined by a previously unannounced guest, Vice President Joe Biden.

Sgt. James Crowley and Henry Louis Gates Jr., both dressed in suits, sat down with Obama and Biden, who both had their white dress shirt sleeves rolled up.

Video from the meeting showed mugs of beer being delivered to the men, who sat at a round table at the edge of the White House's Rose Garden, munching peanuts and pretzels from silver bowls. ...

This is pretty much stupidity. The officer did nothing wrong. The professor did nothing wrong...until he wouldn't leave well enough alone. Obama acted like a moron when he mean mouthed the cop for doing his job. Obama at least somewhat apologized for his speaking out of turn. The beer summit was not needed. I wonder how much it cost us. My dad is a lot like the prof and has nearly been arrested on many occasions because he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. When an officer is walking away from you and you are not going to jail, then that's a win for you in my book, espescially when the officer is just doing his job.

This Sermonaudio News-Item Should Be Re-Titled: "Obama, Biden, Professor, Officer Sit Down Over B-S"

John Kass, A Political Reporter For The Chicago Tribune & A Personal Friend Of A Good Friend Of Mine Wrote The Following HILARIOUS & TRUTHFUL Piece:

"TEACHING ON TAP AT WHITE HOUSE CONFAB--
John Kass, July 30, 2009

A trio of grand Irishmen descended from Irish kings will sit in the White House Rose Garden On Thursday and drink beer and talk about race in America.

Their names? Sgt. Crowley, Professor McGates and President O'Bama.

Naurally, because the host is a Chicago politician. he'll be drinking Budweiser (actually Bud Light), the beer of choice in Chicago when it comes to talking about race during a teachable moment.

I sure hope the media is happy with this made-for-TV spectacle. But they'd like it even better if Chicago's own King of Beers (IR)Rev. Jesse Jackson, played the barkeep(er), dispensing wisdom with a brogue, just like Mr. Dolley of old. TV news would also like a studio audience handy, to cheer and clap and say "aww" in those teary teachable moments, when the beer drinkers wipe their mouths with the back of their fists and punch one another in the shoulder, affectionately, before the three of them start hugging and shouting ' I love you, man ! ' "

Probably won't work, Mike, yes they should have taken the excellent role models of Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver. As the people you pointed out, the best way to get respect is to earn it.

These gentlemen might think upon this:

Galatians 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,
21 envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.
24 And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

Probably more fights are started with drink than ended by it.

Proverbs 18:13 came to my mind when I heard Obama's initial response to the incident involving Professor Gates and the arresting officer, Sgt. Crowley.
I think the problem with Gates AND Obama isn't so much their being representatives of a once highly mistreated minority, but rather their insistence on maintaining a high level of self-agitation (Obama's listening to Rev. Wright's inflamitory sermons for 20 years and Gates continuing the study and instruction of so-called "black studies").
Being white I CAN'T feel their pain (sorry Bill Clinton!), but I really think for their sakes and everyone elses, that they need to get over their painful past and move on.
The agitation by such as Gates, Rev. Jackson, Rev Wright, Al Sharpton, etc., is necessary to keep the race industry going and its "leaders" funded. Better examples, people like Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice, Bill Cosby, JC Watts, don't whine about racism, and get on with life.
