Baptist president calls for greater unity among evangelicals
The President of the Baptist World Alliance has urged evangelicals in the UK to make more of an effort to be united.

The Rev David Coffey argues in his new book, ‘All one in Christ Jesus’, that evangelicals are losing the ground gained in the 1970s and 1980s “when we honoured and accepted one another with greater grace across the denominational and organisational divisions”.

“It grieves my spirit that evangelicals cannot find a greater gospel unity, and I fear we are in grave danger of missing the fullest expression of evangelical cooperation to face the demanding missionary opportunities here in the UK,” he said. ...

Sounds like I'd have to be Ethiopian, agree with their interpretation of Acts 8:37 and have a KJV only attitude to join, John, but thanks for the suggestion. Won't work, especially the ethnic issue.

Very true. There are many conflicting groups who think they alone are the church of the New Testament. Scripture Alone isn't sufficient for many such people. In addition to the Bible you have to submit to somebody's creed or tradition to be "correct" or even saved. And if they say they believe in religious freedom, try doing something against their creed and tradition then see what happens. I guess they wrote the Bible and know the only correct opinion about its words. What a unique position to be in! Too bad the Bible doesn't say what group of the many conflicting ones is the church of the New Testament, then I'd believe them, but that's their problem, not mine.
Hey FR

Have you considered the Ethiopian Confessional Church?

Their confession is sooooo simple and based on Acts 8:37. Mind you, you'd need a KJV to find it.

Actually it does. Just look at those who call themselves Evangelicals.

A question for you Baptists out there, "Is this Baptist World Alliance a Liberal grouping?"

They left the fold long ago. There are other errors beside liberalism. Modernism, worldliness, non-separation, calvinism, arminianism, and a host of other problems.

Considering his "evangelical"(?) bedfellows include Rowan Williams, - this really is a question he needs to find an answer to.
