Church defends nurse who offered to pray for patient
The Very Rev John Hall, the Dean of Westminster, said believers were increasingly keeping their faith to themselves.
He criticised the decision to suspend a nurse who offered to pray for an elderly patient, insisting it was "not a sin and should not be regarded as an offence".
The comments follow the decision put Caroline Petrie on unpaid leave for two months. The community nurse got into trouble after visiting a 79-year-old woman at her home in Winscombe, north Somerset, last December.
Speaking yesterday, Dr Hall said prayer had a key role to play alongside modern medicine....
Well, Fire and Brimstone, that would be one way to go. I'm not quite sure how effective that would be in a society not accustomed to being talked to that way. I think people believe we are a bunch of backwards hatemongers anyway. I'm sure that it would make you feel better using that kind of language. I'm just not sure it would do anything but make the situation worse. I wouldn't have even ask. I would have prayed for the woman anyway. Maybe that's the answer. Pray for 'em all and let God sort 'em out.

What a "sweet" "nice" PC criticism by the Very Reverend Hall. Which will have as much effect as a powder puff.
Of course back in the old days in UK we would have heard a different criticism, in the form of "fire and brimstone" preachers.
Perhaps something like.... "You evil sin filled pagan children of wrath, children of the devil, denying the prayers that GOD Himself has commanded you will all be interned in hell and damnation for ALL of eternity!!!" "Righteous judgement is upon you all and GOD Himself can see and judges your evil perverted hearts!!" "Children of wrath that you are reprobates every one of you, the LORD has warned you and you would not heed HIS warning or HIS counsel, thus do you DENY your Creator who will surely send you to hell and damnation for your iniquitous lives." May God have mercy on your miserable souls.
"Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." Eph 5.6
"For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience" Col 3.6
Be Warned you evil heathen!!
