Council worker suspended for suggesting terminally-ill woman "put her faith in God"
Council worker Duke Amachree has been suspended for encouraging a terminally-ill woman to turn to God after she told him her doctors could do nothing more for her.
A committed Christian who has worked for Wandsworth Council, in London, for nearly 18 years, Mr Amachree was suspended after he discussed his faith with a client.
Mr Amachree, 53, claims he was later told that he should not raise the issue of religion at work. He says he was also told it was inappropriate to "ever talk about God" with a client and that he should not even say "God bless"....
John Yurich USA wrote: If I was Amachree I would have told the council that they were going against the British Constitution by infringing on my freedom of speech rights
The problem with that John is..... The British Constitution is unwritten in one single document, unlike the constitution in America or the proposed European Constitution, and as such, is referred to as an uncodified constitution in the sense that there is no single document that can be classed as Britain's constitution.
Britain now comes under European "Human Rights" which includes freedom of expression but treats religion separately for example....
"Freedom to manifest one's religion or beliefs shall be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of public safety, for the protection of public order, health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others."
The last sentence seems somewhat ambiguous to say the least.
If I was Amachree I would have told the council that they were going against the British Constitution by infringing on my freedom of speech rights. It is about time that somebody stands up to Satan's workers in government and the public schools.
