Amazing Grace is the hymn most frequently chosen by the 400 couples planning their wedding each month through the Church of England’s new online ceremony planner.
More than 1,300 couples have registered to use the new ‘listen and choose’ service, which gives couples the choice of 25 hymns for weddings and 12 readings from the Bible.
John Newton’s Amazing Grace is the most popular choice for a wedding hymn, closely followed by Make Me a Channel of Your Peace and All Things Bright and Beautiful....
John God bless you! That indeed is a lovely verse. It is truly wonderful to know that this world is not our home. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us and has given us the Comforter, The Holy Spirit to be with us and help us through our trials , till we are taken to our everlasting abode. God bless!
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come Tis grace has brought me safe thus far And grace shall lead me home
I have found these few words a source of immense comfort throughout my Christian life. Jesus, by grace, gives us indeed his peace, in the midst of turmoil and despair.
My home is in heaven, I am a citizen of heaven, and I shall arrive there by the grace of God, no matter what befalls me.
I don't like singing amazing Grace any more, because tend to associate it with all the funerals I've attended. It just brings back to much sorrow. When I was a new Christian I was surprised to hear it sung at Church, because i thought it was a funeral song. Ah the ignorance of new believers!
I really like the history to the song and that it is to the same melody that slaves sung long ago. I wonder what the original words were to their song?
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Psalms Only wrote: God wrote His own Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs. Why reject these in favor of the sinners lyrics?
Can you not tell me where God did not forbid the singing of psalms in worship services? Or failing that, can you tell me where God authorized the singing of psalms at a marriage ceremony?
