Religion alters visual perception
It might be clichéd to say that religious people see the world differently, but new research finds that Dutch Calvinists notice embedded visual patterns quicker than their atheist compatriots.

Culture has long been known to distort visual perception, says Bernhard Hommel, a psychologist at Leiden University in the Netherlands who led the new study.

For example, one previous experiment found that Asians tend to dart their eyes around a photograph, while North Americans fix on specific people. ...

I hope they would've tried to identify this group using a theological quiz. Basing it on church membership alone would be ridiculous. And what of Scots Calvinists, or Swiss?

Regardless of procedure, this is the "cum hoc, ergo propter hoc" fallacy.

That including how doctrinally accurate we are with Biblical theology, suggests you should go find your nearest Reformed Church and learn the truth.
How do you say all that contradictory stuff in two sentences?

These pseudo-scientific studies only serve as a type of Rorschach Ink Blot test for those who conduct such experiments. The hypotheses they come up with to explain results are oftentimes mere reflections of what they already believe.

Now concerning this particular study as cited in the article, I'd like to know just how a 30 millisecond difference is considered "significant." Realize that it takes the human eye 300 milliseconds to blink. So, there's this time difference of 1/10th of an eyeblink between the 2 groups. That's significant? And from that, the researchers are going to declare that Calvinists are more inward-looking than atheists???

GMAB!

I think that people who are intrigued with trivial cause-effect phenomena, are more likely to write idiotic reports which they think will eventually make them and their research legendary and that ignorant people will not only spend time discussing the 'interestingness' of it, the same will be trained to ignore more important issues dealing with the tragedies of this life.
