World asked to help craft online charter for religious harmony
A website launched Friday with the backing of technology industry and Hollywood elite urges people worldwide to help craft a framework for harmony between all religions.
The Charter for Compassion project on the Internet at www.charterforcompassion.org springs from a "wish" granted this year to religious scholar Karen Armstrong at a premier Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference in California.
"Tedizens" include Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin along with other Internet icons as well as celebrities such as Forest Whittaker and Cameron Diaz....
Hmmm? Sounds a bit similar to how Rick Warren got his "Purpose Driven" Saddleback "Church" going.
Survey sinners, RW would call them 'seekers', why or why they won't want to attend your "church" and then mold your church to cater to what they want...and eventually have them pay for giving them what they want.
Well, since we just had a sermon on it this morning, I will point out this:
Romans 1 1Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2which he promised afore through his prophets in the holy scriptures, 3concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead; even Jesus Christ our Lord, 5through whom we received grace and apostleship, unto obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name’s sake; 6among whom are ye also called to be Jesus Christ’s: --and it should be added,
Matthew 10 34Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: 36and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
An exclusive way of salvation through the Son, ordained of God and revealed in the Scriptures. That is the sole message mandated by Christ, the Head of the Church of Jesus Christ which He has commanded his servants to bring to the world:
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be dammed." Mark 16:15-16
We are not called to enter into dialogue, but to witness to the Truth, the Truth as it is in Jesus.
Christ's prayer for UNITY in the TRUTH should likewise be the prayer of His Church.
"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." John 17:20-23
Jesus says ‚ÄúI am the way ‚Ķ no man comes to the Father but by me‚ÄĚ.
No true Christian could have anything to do with this movement. Jesus uses extremely exclusive language when He says ‚Äėthe way‚Äô and ‚Äėno man‚Äô in John 14:6. That means there is ONLY ONE WAY (and for anyone unable to grasp the concept - that means there is no other way) for EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the world.
"....urges people worldwide to help craft a framework for harmony between all religions"
Here is a successful framework as far as God is concerned.
2Cor 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?"
And Jesus reminds us of the worldly people
John 15:20 "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also."
And Paul reminds us
2Tim 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
