BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- If you have ever traveled, you have probably noticed a Bible in your hotel room. The Gideons have been placing Bibles in hotels for 100 years.
Monday was a special anniversary for this unique organization. The Gideons placed their very first Bible in a hotel room in Superior Montana 100 years ago Monday.
Since that time, nearly 1.4 billion Bibles translated into 83 languages have been distributed by the Gideons worldwide -- 70 million last year alone. Tom McQuin, a retired school teacher, has been handing out Bibles for the Gideons for 15 years. Monday, he is stopped by the Lone Oak Executive Inn on Rosedale Hwy to being them more after some have been taken from the rooms....
While the New Testament is a good way to present the Gospel,(listen The Roman Road) It is still the best to give out the complete Bible, I would suppose Muslims would dislike the Old Testament, but then they dislike the New Testament as well, q.v., Contradictions in the Qur'an but half a loaf is better than none, especially the buttered half.
Last month I met one of the Gideon s man in Lebanon and He was 70 years old from Germany coming by himself for a conference for all the Gideons in the Middle East and we heard unusual stories, espacially in Eastern Europe how Churches was found by soldiers who took bibles and how Castro in Cuba has refused to hand Bibles to poeple ,but has allowed the soldiers to take.In Lebanon for years, thousands of New Testaments has been distributed to Hotels,Hospitals and espacially to Schools(Maronites,Catholics and Greek Orthodox)and 30% of them are Muslim Students.May God use the implanting of His Word to have a multiply Fruits to His Glory.May God bless their ministriees ahead before his soon coming

TO THE GIDEONS: ‚ÄúFor God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.‚ÄĚ (Hebrews 6:10)
Scott- We can still pass out bibles at school. The gideons are doing it. I know here in Maumee Ohio You cannot require that students take them, and you cannot be set up in a place that students must pass, but you can, and they do, set up in a place where students can voluntarily pick up a bible.
(the ones they have been passing out are orange now, not red)
