Mexican marijuana cartels sully US forests, parks

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (AP) â€” National forests and parks â€” long popular with Mexican marijuana-growing cartels â€” have become home to some of the most polluted pockets of wilderness in America because of the toxic chemicals needed to eke lucrative harvests from rocky mountainsides, federal officials said.

The grow sites have taken hold from the West Coast's Cascade Mountains, as well as on federal lands in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Seven hundred grow sites were discovered on U.S. Forest Service land in California alone in 2007 and 2008 â€” and authorities say the 1,800-square-mile Sequoia National Forest is the hardest hit. ...

How, interesting, as if we don't have enough American entrepreneurs to make use of a legal activities. This article is not only interesting from the point of foreign criminals on our soil, who should be arrested, or Americans who do the same thing, and there certainly are many who do, but just think how many popular causes could be supported by stamping out this practice. The damage to the environment is indisputable. This is something that all can get behind of, instead of such ideas has global warming. Criminal activities should be stopped. Finally, it is one acceptable control of illegal workers.

Let's clean up our national parks and forests, in more ways than one!
