Yoga at school questioned by parents, religious leaders
MASSENA, N.Y. - A group of parents and religious leaders in upstate New York want yoga classes out of public schools, saying the instruction violates boundaries between church and state.
Two high school teachers began using yoga last year to help students relieve stress before exams. Special education teacher Martha Duchscherer and Spanish teacher Kerry Perretta also were developing a districtwide program.
But those plans were halted after parents and others in the community complained students were being indoctrinated in Hindu rites....
There is physical reaction to the movements. There is good in some martial arts.
It's about time Christians stripped out the mysticism and studied the real reasons why this stuff produces results. I'm a christian martial artist and can easily see the physical reactions and some of the reasons behind it. But the instructors teach it mystic style so anything real that I'm learning I have to figure out myself.

Better to sound rediculous than to compromise. As for cocktails for relaxation, hmm...that is news to me. Maybe that is what some other people do, I don't know. As for insecurity...that is news also. I have eternal security. Everyone else who is unbelieving has no such security, so it is no surprise they follow after all sorts of other activities in an attempt to console their awakened yet tormented conscience.

Luk 13:21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
2Ch 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
By your reasoning, should we incorporate the Satanic bible into our Holy Scriptures? Should we use buddhist mantras in our prayers? I think not.
We should not allow yoga into our schools as it is associated with Hinduism. Nor should we allow Judo to be part of our Physical Education programs because it is associated with Shintoism. No Kung Fu either as it is closely related to the Shaolin faith system. For relaxation we should turn to the Western European Christian time honored system of cocktails. Come on you guys. Do you have a clue as to how ridiculous you sound with your Xenophobic rantings? How can you live so full of fear and insecurity?

Unfortunately, it is a hard struggle. On a recent visit to a local hospital, I read some brochures that the hospital had explaining their services. As I read, I noticed that new age practices were integrated into almost all of the patient services that they offered. They included eastern medicine, meditation, channeling, yoga and several other un-Godly practices. When I asked a nurse about this, she said that it is common practice in most hospitals now-a-days. I also read that some of these practices are also offered to police and fire personnel.
This happened in my school also. I think the parents won and the new age elements went out. I would not want my kids filled with these eastern superstitions. The Bible records that when the Israelites became polluted by eastern superstitions, God abandoned them and we cannot let this happen.
