SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) -- Internationally known radio/TV evangelist John Hagee is recovering from open heart surgery at a San Antonio hospital.
A spokeswoman for Hagee's Cornerstone Church says the successful procedure was performed Thursday.
Juda Engelmayer also told the San Antonio Express-News that the 68-year-old minister is expected to be away from the pulpit for about a month. His 30-year-old son, Matt Hagee, will handle church operations until then.
Engelmayer says a routine checkup revealed a need for the heart surgery....
Anyone who thinks that a person is overweight because they eat too much is ignorant of many common medical conditions which can be the cause. Even stress will cause a person to hold on to weight. And,"no",I'm not overweight. How unChrist-like to make assumptions. A fool speaks before knowing the truth and then after without discernment.
I shake my head when it comes to church people. They are so easily led astray, because they are incapable of thinking critically. And this stupid thing about not judging. Idiots, you have to pass judgments every day, every hour, every minute. You are called upon to judge whether you should slow down when the traffic light turns yellow, or you should speed up. You are allowed to make a judgement on the person you claim is your shepherd. He could be a child molester, or he could be stealing the church's money for himself. Where the bible speaks of not judging it means not condemning, like a judge would condemn someone to death or give them life without parole, or "passing judgment" on them.
That's not judging, that's pointing out the obvious. Hagee is a fat hog. Every time I see him on TV he looks like a walking time bomb. All of that blubber didn't magically jump up on him. He had to consume it and then engage in a great deal of slothfulness to keep it there.
I'm sorry he's sick and I hope he gets better but it's hardly 'judging' to point out that Hagee's heart problems are most likely a result of his own gluttony. He's a big, fat slob. The sky is blue, the moon is round, Hagee's fat. If he's smart he will learn to back away from the buffet table and get up off his ample posterior more often.
If you are a non believer, I can understand some of these comments. I don't understand if you are a Born Again Christian how you can judge anyway. Even if you are not saved and you believe in God, the Bible tells you that you are not the judge and the jury. Only one holds that title and that is God. Throughout the Bible there were many afflictions, and without them we would not have the power of healing through prayer. It isn't out of the realm of Rev Hagee that he may have additional health problems in the future, but as he has preached and made recordings of..he believes the Bible and believes that The Lord God Almighty answers prayer. Being the Son of God did not keep Jesus from the cross, but God delivered him by raising him from the dead. Please do not be so quick to judge, because you do not have the right to. Some day you may have a bodily afflicition and given weeks or months to live and you cannot find anyone on earth to help you. Then you may reach out to God and ask for help and find the miracle of healing. There are a lot of people that have.
Not to sound rude or anything, but Mr. Hagee is certainly overweight. If he is preaching faith, he needs to live it too, by leading a healthy lifestyle. And couple his weight problem with a condemnantory pharisaic attitude on other Christians who don't follow his interpretations(which seems to have caused him much undue stress), it is not a surprise. Recommendation: lead a healthy lifestyle and pull the log out of your own eyes.
Just because your a preacher doesnt mean you are exempt from illness. You should have heard what REALLY happened to him the day of the surgey like I did his first day back in the church. Christians are not exempt from illness but we have someone who can carry us through the bad times and heal us when the time or curcumstance is right. So before you go off on your atheist views on here at least have a little knowledge of what your talking about...in other words..keep your stupid opinions to yourself.
At least he doesn't have cancer. He preached a series a while back about no one having to die from cancer. So he didn't mention heart surgery. Maybe positive confession and the word of faith gospel doesn't work for heart problems? Hagee is not the first word of faith preacher to have them. The article is exceptionally vague about the cause of the problem - is Hagee's obesity and lifestyle a contributor?
Anyhow, a whole lot of people who bought Hagee's healing tapes are probably wishing they had kept their cash, other than with the bailout and the inflation that will result it probably doesn't matter.
Maybe Dr. Leroy Thompson can bring back: "MoNEY CoMETH To Me - NoW!!!"
