Royal Society scientist loses post in row over creationism in schools
The Rev Professor Michael Reiss, who was director of education at Britain's scientific academy as well as an ordained Church of England minister, sparked controversy last week when he suggested that pupils should learn about the idea that evolution is wrong and the Earth is only 10,000 years old.

He claimed just "banging on" about natural selection would not lead devout Christian or Muslim children to change their beliefs, and said creationism should be treated as a "world view" rather than a misconception.

Two Nobel laureates condemned his "dangerous" and "outrageous" views while the renowned zoologist and atheist Professor Richard Dawkins compared putting a clergyman in charge of education at the Royal Society to a Monty Python sketch. ...

Is evolution a religion?

Religion can be defined as a set of beliefs for which one is willing to kill or die for.

Millions of people have been killed in the name of evolution. It would seem that the instigators were very religious indeed.

On the other side are christians who would certainly not be prepared to die for what they believe in. If they are not then even if they are regular church attenders then their christianity is not a religion regardless of their protestations.

Is Evolution Science?

The theory of evolution disregards actual Scientific Laws, such as the first two laws of thermodynamics, Boyle’s gas laws, and biogenesis.
Biogenesis is the process of lifeforms producing other lifeforms, e.g. a spider lays eggs, which develop into spiders.
The term is also used for the assertion that living matter can only be generated by other living matter, in contrast to the hypotheses of abiogenesis which hold that life can arise from non-life under suitable circumstances, although these circumstances still remain unknown.
Until the 19th century, it was commonly believed that life frequently arose from non-life under certain circumstances, a process known as spontaneous generation. This belief was due to the common observation that maggots or mold appeared to arise spontaneously when organic matter was left exposed. It was later discovered that under all these circumstances commonly observed, life only arises from the replication of other living organisms.
A second meaning of biogenesis was given by the French Jesuit priest, scientist and philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to mean the origin of life itself due to an inherent drive of matter towards higher consciousness an extension of the now disproven orthogenesis hypothesis.WikipediaTheRest

Science (in modern sense) precludes God!!!
This paper suggests that "one can predict everything in the universe solely from physical laws. Thus, the long-standing 'first cause' problem in cosmology has been dispelled." This cosmology has eliminated the need to postulate an originating cause of the universe's beginning. Stephen Hawking has famously said "there is no place for a Creator." The author shows that the very explanation of the universe offered by quantum cosmology implies that quantum cosmology is logically incompatible with theism, and a quantum God does not exist.
but this is an example of
Empiricism: A Glaring Flaw of New Atheism

Atheism is a worldview in which there is no God. Adherents believe that life sprang from natural forces, not an intelligence, and that the cosmos made itself--or at least organized itself out of raw materials that were just there. "New atheists" include Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion; Christopher Hitchens, who wrote God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything; and Sam Harris, with The End of Faith, etc.

When people mention "Creationism", it's never clear what they mean.

It seems to have two meaning:
(1) That the universe was created in six days, as a literal reading of Genesis seems to infer.
(2) That the universe was created by God from nothing.

Science can examine (1), but (2) is entirely outside the scope of science.

It is truly amazing how they clamor to innoculate the High Preisthood of the Ivory Tower of Atheistic, Godless Science, by attacking and ridiculing into shame any and every challenge to their precious dogma!

They gloat that Creatism has no published scientific research to prove that Evolutionism is flawed. If real research is done that dares to contradict their religious decrees, it never sees the light of day!
