Evangelicals Praise McCain's Performance at Saddleback
Prominent evangelical leaders gave Sen. John McCain a thumbs up for his responses to questions posed by Pastor Rick Warren at Saturday evening’s Saddleback Civil Forum.

McCain was praised for clearly laying out his stance on divisive issues, such as abortion and the California marriage amendment, while opponent Sen. Barack Obama was criticized for what some saw as unclear or safe answers.

"I also thought Senator McCain did very well … I was particularly impressed by his answer on people he admired,” remarked Tom Minnery, senior vice president of Focus on the Family, during the teleconference with evangelical leaders following the forum. ...

Yeah, I can praise his performance compared to Obama. Performance in the sense that he was a better actor! Obama didn't bother to memorize his lines. He stuttered and stumbled and went in circles saying nothing of substance. McCain's performance wasn't flawless but he knew what to say and how to say it with great timing. Like when he was asked when life begins, he was quick to say it is at conception. Both were disappointing from the start. When asked who were most influential in their lives, neither said Jesus. Oh well, I suppose if they had we would have thought them both bigger phonies than they are where Christianity is concerned. Thumbs up on McCain's performance. Thumb's down on the substance of both candidates.

Hmm..ok, well I am evangelical, but I have a conscience to follow and this means I will not be voting for McCain or Obama.
It makes you wonder who these evangelicals are.

The blind leading the blind. Ron Paul did not register a blip on the 'evangelical' radar. Most have not even heard of Chuck Baldwin. But McCain they rally around. Pitiful and a total disgrace. Get ready evangelicals for endless war and killing of more innocents (i.e. collateral damage), more draconian laws, less freedom, and bigger global govt as the beast system emerges from the sea.

Daniel Lee Ford,

The Gospel According to Hybels & Warren. You have to remember The Truth Behind The Church's Purpose, which Mr. Warren has forgotten.

As bad as Obama is, this is not quite
a balanced response from 'evangelicals'
They might note-
About Obama and sodomites,Minnery said.
"You cannot square the circle as he is trying to do,” “Either you support marriage or you do not. He says one thing. By his actions, he indicates another thing."
and
Janet Folger, national radio host and president of Faith2Action, commented McCain “without hesitation” stated that life begins at conception, Folger pointed out.

but!

How does McCain justify saying he believes life begins at conception and he is pro life but said he is also
FOR
embryonic stem sell research in the next breath. You have to have conception to have a embryo.

"You cannot square the circle as he is trying to do,” as Minnery said.
(BUT only of Obama)

“Either you support [life] or you do not. He says one thing. By his actions, he indicates another thing."
a fair, non 'puff piece' might say.

Others note the same conflict in McCAIN

??obvious implications- if rights attain the moment the egg and sperm meet: all kinds of embryo research become questionable, starting with the stem-cell research McCain says he favors.
