Britain clears way for polygamy benefits
LONDON — The British government has cleared the way for husbands with multiple wives to claim welfare benefits for all their partners, fueling growing controversy over the role of Islamic Shariah law in the nation's cultural and legal framework.

Bigamy is outlawed in Britain, but authorities have never prosecuted Muslim men who had legally married more than one woman abroad and continued to live with them after immigrating. Shariah permits men to have up to four wives at one time.

Now, after a review that began in November 2006, a panel of four government departments has decided that all the wives of a Muslim man may collect state benefits, provided that the marriages took place in a country where multiple spouses are legal. ...

The link seems to go to a different but relevant news report ......?

However, This government "review" is a whitewash.

Polygamous Moslem families have long claimed 4 x housing and welfare benefits in the UK.

The purpose of the review was to "regularise" what has long been government practice.

Marvellous that God raised up Rowan Williams comments and the hysterical reaction that followed to embarrass the government's report now that it is being completed.

"Bigamy is outlawed in Britain, but authorities have never prosecuted Muslim men who had legally married more than one woman abroad"

Remind me again why our taxes are being used to support the breaking of our laws?

Sharia ???

You mean Rowan Williams was right?

And why are politicians giving him a hard time?

Isn't strange that Muslims don't consider morality country specific, and neither would a Christian. I would suggest that if people want to lead an immoral life-style, they be deported. Ah speaking of enforcing Islamic beliefs.

Arrests made in plot to kill Muhammad cartoonist. I would suggest you read this before or after the one above, Support Denmark: Why the Forbidden Cartoons Matter.

I am rather curious, since Islamic countries allow slavery also (besides the aforementioned degradation of women) is the British government going to let in slaves also? Slavery in Islam.
