Canada puts US on 'torture list'
The United States has been listed as a country where prisoners are at risk of torture in a training document produced by the Canadian foreign ministry.

It also classifies some US interrogation techniques as torture.

The manual - part of a training course on torture awareness for diplomats - also includes Israel, China, Iran and Afghanistan on its watch list.

Looks like the US are updating their manuals too.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7236054.stm

"but other officers say it will take time before the advice from the manual is translated into real change on the ground."

The United States and Israel have been removed from this "list" or at least that is what Canada says now.

Q: And where did/does the U.S. get its methods of torture ?

A: The CIA !

Q: And where did/does the CIA get its methods of torture ?

A: Well, back in 1947 when the CIA was Created out of the old U.S. OSS (Office of Strategic Services); some left-over Nazis/Fascists that escaped International Justice at The Nuremberg (Post WWII) Trials via The Satanic-Vaticanist/US-OSS-CIA "Ratlines"; brought over their Crusades/Inquistions/Holocaust torture methods that were successful in Nazi/Fascist/Vaticanist/Gestapo-"Jesuitic" Third-Reich Germany, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Etc. !

Q: Does The CIA Still Use Those Torture Methods in Our Present Enlightened 21st Century "Kindler & Gentler" George W. Bush (George H.W. Bush) Backed & Run Intelligence Communities ?

A: Yes !

Q: Does That Include The Method of Torture Known Internationally as "Water-Boarding" ?

A: Yes !

Q: Is The US, CIA, Satanic-Vatican Still in The Torture Business ?

A: Yes ! And They're Getting Into The *Guillotining Business Too ! ! ! ! ! !

I'm sure the BBC will be gratified and relieved to hear that the CBC have now validated this news item.

Mike from NY,

The torture list is now reported on CBC Newsworld website. It is a list in a manual which was not authorized by the government and the minister for the govt says it will be re-written as it does not reflect the views of the govt.

Having said that, what about the reported use of water-board torture in Guatanamo Bay and the past reports of U.S. rendition of terrorist suspects to other countries to be tortured to extract information? What about the famous case of Maher Arar, a Canadian with dual Canadian-Syrian citizenship, who was detained in the U.S. when he was travelling through? He was arrested by U.S. authorities and flown to Syria where he was held in prison for a year and tortured. After finally being released, he was returned too Canada, where the Canadian Gov't ordered a public enquiry. The inquiry exonerated him and ordered the gov't to pay him ten million dollars as compensation. The U.S. govt has so far refused to accept responsibility for what happened to him. Mr. Arar is still on U.S. "no fly" lists and evidence pointed to him as completely innocent. He cannot even fly over the U.S. in an airacraft and cannot travel to the U.S.

As christians, I think we should acknowledge unjust or inhumane treatment of people, whoever they are, and oppose it.

The report that Canada puts U.S. on torture list may be a false report. I follow the CBC TV Newsworld daily and have seen nothing about this on it. I would think if it were true, there would be something on it.

The minority Conservative government we have in Canada is definitely pro U.S. and has been doing a terrific job in Afghanistan. Canadian Forces have several thousand troops on the front line in S. Afghanistan. Also they are involved in training Afghan troops and police.

Several Canadian troops have been killed there in the past few weeks. There have been about seventy Canadian soldiers killed since Canada got involved several years ago. The problem is with some European NATO partners who have not been involved in fighting the Taliban in the dangerous parts of the country. Their govt's policy is not to be in combat roles.

Canada is committed until Feb.2009 as part of NATO under a UN mandate. What they do after that is being debated now and will be decided by the Canadian Parliament this year.

Great headline, but the story does not bear it out.

"A government spokesman said the manual did not reflect the views of Canada, "
