"It was me, the gunman and God"
COLORADO SPRINGS — Amid deafening cracks of gunfire, smoke-spewing canisters and the flight of thousands of New Life Church members, Jeanne Assam said God was with her when she shot the gunman and helped her prevent more lives from being lost.

"I saw him, it seemed like the halls cleared out, and I saw him coming through the doors, and I took cover. And I waited for him to get closer. And I came out of cover. And I identified myself. And I engaged him and I took him down," the 42-year-old volunteer church security guard and former law officer said Monday at a news conference in the Colorado Springs police station. "I didn't think it was my sole responsibility. I didn't think about this. It was — it seemed like it was me, the gunman and God."

Assam, a member of New Life for only a few months, admitted she had been without sleep since Sunday's midday shootings at Colorado's largest church. ...

If this woman was doing a good deed, why was she plastered all over every major news network telling everybody about it? "But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" Matthew 6:3. I just think she might have been better off keeping a low profile.

Somehow I have a hard time imagining the disciples using an armed guard to fend off persecution.
Hopefully the church members who died were ready to meet the Lord, but was the gunman?

Hey Daniel why did you say that doesn't mean she is saved. Looks like to me she was bearing some good fruit. Oh yeah another wicked one bites the dust.

This is The Scripture that has been helping me when I think about this woman's situation.

I have attempted to rationalize what I would have done, but I am not her and the decision was not mine to make.

Psalm 131:1-3 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.

This may be true, but it doesn't mean the woman is saved.

Jeanne Assam was a hero. She has already been on the news, interviews, and will find it hard to get back to a normal life. It is a good thing she had the awareness to pray as she was doing her job. I have been a security guard before, and it is ususally the most boring of jobs. Yet she did it to the glory of God.

Suicide by Cop, which may have been the case, is very hard on a moral person who has to defend themselves and others. As I said, if these curs think they have to shoot up a bunch of people they should start with blowing out their brains first.

Proverbs 28
17. A man that is laden with the blood of any person Shall flee unto the pit; Let no man stay him.
