Flap over gays in church directory festers
FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)--Members of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, voted Dec. 2 to delay a decision on whether to include homosexual members as couples in a church pictorial directory.

Baptist Press broke the story of the church contention on Nov. 6. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram said the church's deacons would recommend a solution to the issue by Feb. 4.

"We do not want to rush to make a decision, but rather to continue to listen to each other and for God's leading to our church," deacon chairman Kathy Madeja said in a statement. "Our members have diverse opinions about many things, but what we have in common is our love for God, the church and each other." ...

"We do not want to rush to make a decision, but rather to continue to listen to each other and for God's leading to our church," deacon chairman Kathy Madeja said in a statement. "Our members have diverse opinions about many things, but what we have in common is our love for God, the church and each other."

Two glaring things about this paragraph provide a great deal of understanding about this situation. It also demonstrates that they have no inclination nor spiritual direction to resolve the issue.

A) "deacon chairman Kathy Madeja" - enough said.

B) "listen to each other and for God's leading to our church" - enough said.

C) The Bible alone is the Word of God - enough said?

What should have taken place was Mathew 18 and I corthians 5 involving church discipline. Known homosexuaels should never be a church member according to the Word of God. If the pastor really cared for the souls of those invovled in this sin he would preach a message declareing what God has to say about this sin and give them room to repent and turn from this evil before it infects the entire body of Christ. If they do not repent then they should be put out of the church and turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh. In Christ Henry

Here is a simple solution.

The local churches in the area should no longer recognize this church as being baptist or any kind of church that would claim to believe the Bible.

This so called church should immediately cease calling itself baptist and should instead call itself by a name easily identified with those who those who deny Scripture and Christ.

The statement " no one who is not a cherished child of God, " in no way lines up with scripture. In John 8:43-44 it says that those who do not belong to Christ are the children of the devil.

Jesus was compassionate to the worst of sinners, but harshly chastised those who claimed to know God, but were hypocrites. Nowhere does the Bible teach us to tolerate and accept the sins of others, though we are of course commanded to love the sinner nonetheless. Homosexuality is indeed a sin (see Rom 1:18-28, 1 Cor 6:9-10).

Someone who claims to be a born again child of God, yets does not repent of their sinful lifestyles, and even proclaims their sin (Isa 3:9) is a liar and not counted among the elect of God (see 1 john, specifically verse 6)

Kathy Madeja's comment "Our members have diverse opinions about many things, but what we have in common is our love for God, the church and each other," is erroneous on all three counts: Does not show love for God because they allow sin that God calls an abomination to exist in the church; as the Body of Christ they are disgracing their Head who gave His life to set them free from this kind of slavery; and if they truly loved each other they would seek to free those in this kind bondage not affirm it thus sealing their eternal damnation. God established marriage between a man and a woman as the only legitimate sexual union. Anything else is "sin" and the wages of sin are death.

Seems the ones that want the fotos in are more honest than the ones who don't. After all, the couples are members of their church. If they are members then why hide their fotos? Those who object should leave these apostates to themselves and join a congregation that will not compromise the Word of God.

The operative word is "we" in the article. It's not what God say's but what we want. Case closed.

and by the way,

Gil Rugh said or, wrote:
God's word addresses all the areas of life. As we read and study what He has said we must make every effort to understand it for what it says. This means we must avoid bringing our preconceptions and worldly notions to bear on the meaning of the text.

One of the most important areas of study, in which this is of utmost importance, is in the study of the role of men and women.

The distinctions God made in His sovereign creative plan is that they are spiritually equals with different roles and authority. These distinctions where determined before the fall as part of His original design. Sadly the corruption of sin has resulted in these divinely intended distinctions to become a battleground. The world, the flesh and the devil continue in rebellion against God's intention in this particular realm....
