Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will deliver a much-anticipated speech on religious faith at the George H. W. Bush library on Thursday, CBS News has confirmed. Romney's Mormon faith has been an underlying theme of his presidential candidacy but, until today, it has been an area he and his campaign have shied away from addressing directly.
"This speech is an opportunity for Governor Romney to share his views on religious liberty, the grand tradition religious tolerance has played in the progress of our nation and how the governor's own faith would inform his Presidency if he were elected," said Romney spokesman Kevin Madden in a statement released this evening....
For me the problem with Romney is not that he is a Mormon, but because he is a liberal Mormon. I have too many problems with his voting record. Glenn Beck is a Mormon and I would consider voting for him if he ran. Mitt on the other hand, well lets allow him to speak for himself.
Mitt Romney debated against Ted Kennedy over which of them was more liberal,
"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US senate candidate ...and you will not see me wavering on that" Mitt's mom ran as a pro-choice Republican in 1970.
Regarding Boy Scouts excluding homosexual members: "I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation." ??????????????????????????
