Does Your Pastor Need an MBA?
Talk to a savvy evangelical pastor these days, and he (yes, he probably will be a “he”) might sound a lot like a marketing executive. Todd Wilson, the “Executive Pastor” at New Life, a dynamic multi-site church in Northern Virginia, told ReligionWriter, reporting for a 2005 Washington Examiner story, that walking into a church should be a “multi-sensory experience, like walking into a Starbucks.”

Indeed, the connection between marketing and missionizing goes way back, as churches and corporations have long been borrowing ideas from one another. As ReligionWriter wrote about last year, in “Product Placement in the Pews? Microtargeting Meets Megachurches,” this mixing of religion and business has some strange, and perhaps troubling, new incarnations.

But most American churches are neither booming megachurches not “revolutionary” multisite ministries. According to 2003 research from the Barna ...

The findings suggest that the wall is actually part of the same city wall the Bible says Nehemiah rebuilt, Mazar said. The Book of Nehemiah (chapters 3-6) gives a detailed description of construction of the walls, destroyed earlier by the Babylonians.

"We were amazed," she said, noting that the discovery was made at a time when many scholars argued that the wall did not exist.

"This was a great surprise. It was something we didn't plan," Mazar said.

However, another scholar doubted whether the wall was biblical

MBA, strange how the bible differs in that pastors are not always the most educated person.

The bible says its the person who is a servant and who is in the trenches. Its no wonder the world thinks the church is so messed up - we keep trying to do it our way, instead of God's.

Check out the website. Keep seeking God, listening & obeying Him.

Love ya steve

Ah, church marketing!

"HOW THE USE OF THE HISTORICAL
PERSPECTIVE COULD BENEFIT THE STUDY OF
CHURCH MARKETING"

http://www.sbaer.uca.edu/research/sma/1999/09.pdf

Unfortunately, the mistake they made in the early 20th Century was confusing just what the church is suppose to be.

The church is not to look like a Starbuck's and in the end, the bottom line isn't about financial profit and loss.

Most of the pastors that I'm familiar with need a good dose of humility.

I cannot think of another job title that is filled with more prideful men than the modern day pastor (except maybe pro athletes).

It's almost enough to turn me against goatees, long sideburns and untucked shirt tails.

I've met a number of young pastors who think they know it all; an MBA would only add to their pride. Besides, an MBA would be an impossibility for a pastor who never graduated from college.

Well, if your a popular televangelist, you apparently do!

John 2
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
Acts 8
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
1 Timothy 6
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. {erred: or, been seduced}

" an executive education program at his alma mater, the Wharton School, for faith leaders who need MBA-like skills to do serious economic development work."

The Pharisees all had the equivalent of MBA's too.

Say no more!
