At steps of Georgia Capitol, governor prays for rain
ATLANTA — Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue stepped up to a podium outside the state Capitol on Tuesday and led a solemn crowd of several hundred people in a prayer for rain on his drought-stricken state.

"We've come together here simply for one reason and one reason only: To very reverently and respectfully pray up a storm," Perdue said after a choir provided a hymn.

Georgia and its neighboring states are caught in a drought that threatens public water supplies. Perdue has ordered water restrictions, launched a legal battle against the release of water from federal reservoirs and appealed to President Bush. ...

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (Psalm 111:10)
I don't think I will be able to find it just now... but I remember a verse about trying to please God and that he will punish us when we stop trying...and another verse about a father punishing children that he loves.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11)
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:6)

Hi Susan
Sorry had to wipe out you comment, only left 300 spaces for me.
1. Yes, agree, imputed rightteousness
2. Yes, agree, Works, what a nasty word
yet we are called servants, slaves, the salt of the earth, the light, yet most think all they have to do is believe,
True, no works for Salvation, gift from God Most people have no idea what it means to belive, I can believe in santa, but I'll be disapointed when he leaves me no gifts.
If you don't see, how lost the world is and how the battle for the church is being played out according to the Bible and GET into the battle, then not only is there mind not renewed, but there most likly not saved. The Bible shows what is expected of a "christian".
3. Agreed, Someone in the Bible said, when speaking about the end times, this will not happen untill the falling away and the man of sin be revealed. Don't know who that man is, but the falling away, sometimes I wonder how God can stomach us at all, what that says about longsuffering of God truly amazes me, thank God for grace.
4. Agreed, I think, that verse is speaking to the church, not any one person, Ask, Seek and Knock, yes, I do that everyday, can you tell?

Hi Terry, your comment was likely 'toungue in cheek.' Still I would like to explain my understanding of the following two verses: God created man. After the fall, man attained the 'knowledge of good and evil,' thus man was able to turn to evil.

Because of the Grace of God through Christ Jesus, all who call upon Christ as Saviour are cleansed from the evil and are seen through the 'Righteousness of Christ.'

That one does not reject Jesus Christ and thereby does allow the miraculous renewing of their mind - is not works, because the renewing of their mind is all of Christ.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Rev 3:20)

"I (ALMIGHTY GOD) WILL THEREFORE THAT MEN PRAY EVERY WHERE, LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS, WITHOUT WRATH AND DOUBTING."

I Timothy 2:8

It IS GOD ALMIGHTY'S WILL that MEN (WOMEN & CHILDREN) PRAY EVER WHERE (EVEN IN THE FRONT STEPS OF THE GEORGIA CAPITOL BUILDING),

LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS,

WITHOUT

a) WRATH

AND

b) DOUBTING.

QUESTION:

DOES THAT ALSO INCLUDE THE SATANIC-VATICAN ?

ANSWER:

YES. THAT ALSO INCLUDES THE SATANIC-VATICAN.

ALTHOUGH I SERIOUSLY QUESTION THE "HOLY" HANDS THAT ARE BEING "LIFTED" UP; AND/OR THE "WRATH" AGAINST THOSE WHO PRAY TO "THE-LORD-JESUS-CHRIST-ONLY" AND THE "DOUBTING" THAT WILL OCCUR AGAINST "HOLY-BIBLE-ONLY" & SOLA-ESCRITURA AUTHORIZED-BIBLE/SCRIPTURE-ONLY-CATHOLICISM ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The hourlong event was billed as an interfaith ceremony but only three Protestant ministers joined Perdue, who is a Baptist, and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.

Interfaith Ceremony?

What a way to start a prayer meeting in accomadating other gods and idols.

"...He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth Rain on the Just and the Unjust." Matthew 5:45b

I think that if it Does Rain (Water); it will be On-Account/Because of the Goodness/Mercy of Almighty God: Not Because of the Righteousness/Justness of the Petitioners!

On the other hand, If it Doesn't Rain (Water); it will be Because They Don't
Really Deserve Any More Water -and/or- Because of Their Sins, Iniquities and Wickednesses!

Albeit; If Almighty God Does Find Yet 50, 40, 30, 20 or even 10 Righteous/Just in The Land--He will Spare The Land for The Just/Righteous 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50(+): And Indeed Send Rain (Water)!

My Personal Belief is That Almighty God Will Indeed Send Rain (Water); Just Like He Did In That Region/Land Back in 1986 (20 years ago).

And if He Doesn't Find Yet 10 (A Minion) Righteous/Just in That Region/Land: He May Very Well Send Rain Alright!

But By Then He'll Have Already Rained Down Upon Them Fire & Brimstone from Heaven!!!

NOTE-I SUPPOSE IN THE SATANIC-VATICAN THEY'VE ALREADY PRAYED FOR RAIN (WATER) IF THEY'VE EVER NEEDED IT; AND GOTTEN IT: ALTHOUGH THEY REALLY DESERVE IT TO RAIN FIRE & BRIMSTONE FROM HEAVEN UPON THEM !

BUT FRET NOT TRUE SAINTS; IT WILL RAIN FIRE & BRIMSTONE UPON THEM IN DUE TIME (REV.18:8) !

God may think these politicians are already all wet?

Matthew 5
44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you;
45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.

I'm glad to see my fellow Georgians praying, but being from here I know that evolution is taught exclusively in all GA public schools, so why would God be under any obligation to help us. I remember a recent contraversy in Cobb County in which stickers that called evolution one of many theories on the origin of life was banned from the front of text books. Kicking God out when things are going good, begging for God's mercy when things are going bad, that is the mantra for most states...and the citezens of them.
