Casinos eye younger players

Casinos once catered to the generations that grew up on the music of Frank Sinatra, Elvis and Cher.

The World War II generation and older baby boomers had slots, bingo and hearty, inexpensive buffets mostly to themselves.

But that was before television hooked people in their 20s and 30s on shows like ESPNâ€™s â€œWorld Series of Poker.â€ In the past few years, as Las Vegas has become hip, casinos have started reaching out to the under-40 market.

The median age of American casino-goers is 46 and the median household income of gamers is slightly more than $57,000 annually, according to a national study of casino-goers published by Harrahâ€™s in 2006. ...
