Texas Baptists Name First Woman President
Texas Baptists elected their first female president in a narrow vote on Monday.

Retired missionary Joy Fenner was elected by a 900 to 840 vote during the annual meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) ‚Äď the largest state Baptist convention in the country. She defeated second-generation candidate David Lowrie by one of the smallest margins in BGCT history.

This year's vote follows previous historic elections in which Texas Baptists placed into leadership their first Hispanic and first black presidents in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

Although Texas is among the top three states with the highest number of women pastors and co-pastors, according to the latest Baptist Women in Ministry report, less than 1 percent of the state convention's pastors are female, as reported by The Associated Press. ...

This is further evidance that ReLiGiOn has taken hold and GODLY SPIRITUAL [*Manly*] Leadership GOD INTENDED FOR THE CHURCH *HAS failed*!!!

They just as well throw THE BIBLE out the window -- they read from IT and manipulate THE TEXT to interject their own convoluted doctrinal twist that is nothing more than giving man license to sin and an automatic free pass to HEAVEN

They have created their own *BOXED ReLiGiOn* in which they have perverted **THE POWER OF GOD'S INDWELLING GRACE** AND **man's RESPONSIBILITY TO RESPOND (FOLLOWING//BEHAVING ACCORDINGLY AS he IS BEING LED BY GRACE**)

THE WORD TELLS us TO TAKE UNTO ourselves THE ATTRIBUTES THAT ARE ours BY THE GIFT OF GOD -- *HIS PROCESS FOR us* (*IN*,*OF*,AND *THROUGH* CHRIST AND HIS LIVING, LIFE GIVING WORD) !!! - We ARE INSTRUCTED TO TAKE HOLD AND GRASP TIGHTLY THE WEALTH OF THAT WHICH IS OFFERED [""GET UNDERSTANDING"" -- HAVE A LOOK AT IT, ""RECEIVE"" IT, ""OBTAIN"" IT BY WAY OF EXPERIENCE (*UNDERGOING GOD'S PROCESS*)] ""TAKE HOLD"" OF IT AND KEEP IT IN your Mind, your Thoughts, CLOSE TO your Heart ALWAYS AS you GAIN POSSESSION """GROWING""" IN THE CONTROL OF **THE MASTERY OF THE GOODNESS OF GOD** (THAT WHICH CAUSES man TO BE IN RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM (our ONE TRUE FATHER)...

Veritas Vincit !!!

Nice to see someone from good ole Montreal. Visited Montreal in 1966.

What do the verses in 1 Timothy 2 vs.11-12 mean? "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

This epistle was written to the young pastor, Timothy, and is instruction on the orderly procedure in the visible church. In the above verses, Paul is teaching that women in church are not to preach to or teach men or exert authority over men.

The reason for this? "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." 1 Timothy 2:14

Nothing wrong with a woman being a teacher. That would normally be in a school, not a church.

Hey Jean-Pierre, do you know Christ as your Saviour and the true gospel?

Jean-Paul,

"As for the (of being in authority)the problem is in the fact that you give autority to people instead of the Srcipture."

1 Timothy 2. "11. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."

Where do you place your authority, God's Word or man?

The point is whom God will send and use.

Human ability is irrelevant.

Male and female do not have the same function and role, this is established in the Word and Law of God.

Stick whom you want to in the pulpit. But will God use them - against HIS Word?

I'm sure you are aware that there are many men who declare themselves to be used of God, But the true Christian knows otherwise. (eg:: Popes)

It should be mentioned that more conservative Baptists broke from these liberals,"In dissension with the BGCT, more conservative Baptists split in 1998 to form the Southern Baptists of Texas, which is intentionally more related to the SBC."

Gil Rugh said or, wrote:
Jesus Christ came to earth to be a savior. He saves not only from the penalty of sin but the power of sin as well. We cannot be saved by our best efforts and our works. But when we are saved, our lives are so changed that we live different lives. We have been saved for good works which God prepared before hand, that we should walk in them. Paul is unfolding the life and lifestyle of the people of God. We are told that the church is the household of God. In chapter 2 he is talking about the role and conduct of Godly women. So we are talking about what God wants for a woman who belongs to him. The realm of the woman is not that of teaching and of being in authority.
