Muslim prisoners sue for millions over ham sandwiches
A prison menu offering ham sandwiches has prompted a multi-million-dollar lawsuit by Muslim inmates who claim their human rights were violated.

Officials at the high security prison in Leeds, England, denied they gave any of their 200 Muslim prisoners ham sandwiches. But they admitted a mistake in the special menus printed during the Islamic Ramadan holiday, the London Daily Mail reported.

Islam forbids eating any products from pigs.

The Muslim prisoners complained after discovering ham sandwiches were one of three options on the menu. Prison officers on duty explained the menus had been printed in error. ...

You gotto love the one liners

? do muslims observe christmas ?
I mean hardly notice anything about Jesus, its pc now, all about getting stuff, and santa giving you what you want, and life being joyful and goodwill towards men, sorry, really, what do muslims say about christmas?
And do they have an alternative, you know like we call halloween, the fall festival.
almost forgot, we don't even call it christmas anymore, its the Happy Holy days, winter break for scools, not allowed to call it christmas break.
What about new years day, kawansa, and all the jewish days around that time of year, why do they get equal credit in a christian, 85%, country? nevermind thats right christians don't offend people, its ok for others to offend you, I mean they can still like you, its the Word they don't like.

When you choose to commit a crime that carries the penalty of imprisonment, you surely have to accept that your choices thereafter are likely to be limited to 'take it or leave it' from time to time. Or were they all in prison because they were falsely convicted?
It was insensitive to offer a forbidden food, but another meal was only a few hours away, and these gentlemen were not force-fed the ham. If they had been, then they would certainly have a case.

Why should you be so smug about your ham eating? Don't you have any sympathy for our Muslim friends? As for Peter's vision, in Acts 10:28 Peter himself explains the meaning of the vision: "God has shown me that I should not call any MAN impure or unclean." The sheet came down three times, which symbolised the number of gentile men that were looking for him. God didn't somehow re-create pigs. They are just as unclean and harmful now as they were then. They are scavengers and therefore not fit for human consumption. We have only been given permission to eat animals with cloven hooves and that chew cud. Muslims often dismiss Christians as pig-eating drunkards, and sadly they are often right.
I believe you are confusing the meaning of Peter's vision with the application. The meaning is clear: all foods are clean. This is directly supported by Mark 7:19 where Mark says, "Thus He [Jesus] declared all foods clean." Peter's application in Acts is that, in the same way that he was improperly holding on to the Jewish laws of cleaness of foods, he had also been improperly holding on to the Jewish idea that Gentiles were forever unclean and excluded from God's grace.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the ham just on the menu.
If I can't eat a certain food I simply don't order it. Are we expected to not even have pork products on the menu? If there are hindus in jail I guess all beef must be excluded. Oh and I guess if there is a vegan inmate there should be no meat on the menu at all.
Where will this mad PC end?

We are no longer constrained to maintain the dietary meats prescribed under the Law of Moses.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." (Rom 14:17)

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: (I Ti 4:3-4)

Yep.

Peter's encounter with Cornelius the Centurion--and God, Himself,
in the book of Acts pretty much opened the door for all of us to
enjoy those wonderful honey-baked hams on Christmas and other holidays.

Those poor, legalistic muslims have no
idea what they are missing!

Well they made a real pigs ear of that menu didn't they!

Perhaps if we lined our buses and trains with pig skin we wouldn't have to worry about suicide bombers riding on them!

You've gotten me thinking. We traditionally have Turkey for Thanksgiving but I think I will talk it over with my wife about having Ham or a nice Pork Roast this year. Stephanie our daughter loves green beans slow cooked in Ham until just about all the water is gone and the flavor (WOW!!! ) is all through them.

I don't think the prison should be at fault. It sounds like the inmates had prior knowledge on a printed menu. It's their own fault if they ignored the menu and failed their religion by eating a ham sandwich.

They actually aren't suing over the ham sandwich, it's because we left out the mustard, pickle and chips!
