Churches Replacing Theology with Ecology?
Are too many churches these days more concerned about saving the earth than saving souls?

A British sociologist and a prominent American theologian are among those who might say so.

Frank Furedi, who teaches at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, suggested that churches have replaced theology with ecology, using ecological virtues as a platform to assert their authority in society.

Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, agrees that ecological concerns appear to act as a replacement for “abandoned doctrines” and “outdated concerns” – such as evangelism. ...

Matt 6:33 is probably the best verse to
remind "christian ecologists" of.

Whatever "good" cause you decide to
champion, at least get your priorities
straight.

We should be stewards of the environment, and we fail on many levels. Goin' all hippie and driving the electric car and whatnot is a bit extreme. I keep looking forward to Christ returning, and then all of these issues will be resolved. God won't end this age until he is ready, but he may decide to let us, as the human race, sit in the filth that we created for ourselves. In other words taking care of the environment is not a bad thing as long as one doesn't go to the extreme to do it.

Ecology and Theology. They're both in the Bible.

"Rowan Williams, had complained that “early modern religion contributed to the idea that the fate of nature is for it to be bossed around by a detached sovereign will, whether divine or human.”"

The Anglicans wouldn't know trust in God, from the faith they have in their local soccer team to win.

Liberalism has destroyed any real faith and Biblical understanding amongst them.

IF you are about the work of God HE will take care of your environment.

Psalm 107.33 He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

OR

35 He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

Read the poem...not bad. Inspired this line after reading it:

"What can wash away my sins..."

Tithing a wolf-pastor who's a millionaire. NO!

It is and will always be: Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

1Corinthians 2
2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4And my speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Fuzzy, that was pretty sharp, you'll appreciate this poem.

The article itself is well worth reading.

"What can wash away my sins..."

nothing but the dirt of our pla-ah-net. NO!
turning off my AC in my hybrid car. NO!
caring for the planet and polar bears. NO!
spending billions on U-gen-icks. NO!
warring with Muslims and torturing them. NO!
picking on Catholics who have false doctrine. NO!
believing propaganda by the New W. O. NO!

I am sure many more statements could be made. But the following line to the song is...

Nothing BUT THE BLOOD OF JE-E-SUS!
