Yes. Peter Marshall is one of a host of "Christian historians" who uphold the Biblical foundation of this country. Beliles and McDowell wrote,"America,s Providential History"-a great read. Horton Davies,"The Worship of the American Puritans" and David Bartons, "Lives of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence" are other great sources. Many publishers such as Vision Forum and Sprinkle Publications also put out great info. I have these in my possession and according to John Eidsmoe, "Christianity and the Constitution-The Faith of Our Founding Fathers", "Washingtons's upbringing, actions and words indicate that he was a Christian." There is proof if needed.

Peter Marshall has some excellent material available on early America and its birth. From Sea to Shining Sea is one book he wrote. He also has a new DVD series. Marshall describes William Bradford as being on a missionary objective to spread the Gospel to America when he came.
The Puritans who came ashore at Plymouth Rock were solid Christians. Ninety percent of elected members of early American government were God fearing people. However, nearly from the beginning another group came to America.

Masons as government leaders are fine with me, even if the article doesn't like the idea. I don't want theocrats or theonomists trying to gain power.
I think the above source should be some what enlightening. One good example is that the U.S. Federal government started out more tolerant than many the the New England states. Ah, but from what their beliefs suppose to be, "Freemasonry's basic tenets are:

One thing The Founders of this country didn't trust was the uneducated masses, this is why there were property requirements to be a voter and why both the Senate and the President were not directly elected by the rabble. The Founders believed in a republic not in pure democracy. The Bible was the rock on which this country was founded. It is not accident that France has gone through many changes but we still are governed by the same Constitution.
What they failed to mention is that the average American also can't find Europe on a map of the world and can't name the two senators in his own state. Never mind the fact that the U.S. Constitution makes no reference to God. Never mind the fact that the Declaration of Independence is not a legal document. (The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to make a moral case for dissolving the ties between the colonies and Great Britain; once that goal was achieved, the official role of the Declaration was finished.) Never mind the fact that the First Amendment was designed to protect offensive speech, because speech which is non-offensive by definition needs no protection.
