Woman Killed in Eritrea for Refusing to Renounce Jesus Christ
Christians have been left outraged by the death of a young woman in Eritrea allegedly tortured to death in a military facility for refusing to renounce her faith in Jesus Christ, reported the persecution watchdog ministry Open Doors.
Migsti Haile, 33, died this past Wednesday at the Weaa Military Training Center and is the fourth Christian known to have been killed this way in the past year.
Open Doors said Haile was tortured specifically for refusing to “sign a letter recanting her faith”.
It is believed she spent 18 months in prison “under severe pressure” since she and nine other single Christian women were arrested at a church gathering in Keren....
Amen. Stories as such are very convicting for us discontented, comfortable pew Christians in the West. Scripture is our source or strength but books such as J.Burrough's book on contentment further encourage us along the way. My wife was recently given a book by her boss called,"The Heavenly Man". I picked it up the other night to get a quick idea about its contents. I ended up reading only about 5 pages somewhere in the middle of the book and was so convicted that I had to put it down. I will definitely finish it. Oh, that we may be soldiers of Christ. Those who live godly in Christ Jesus WILL suffer persecution.
"Six Summary Points of this sermon 1.God's servants are divinely protected until their work is finished. 2.God's servants are hated by the unbeliever. God chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 3.Unbelievers are tormented by the ministry of God's servants. You become the vehicle of convicting them and that conviction becomes sheer torment. 4.Unbelievers rejoice when the servants of God are removed. 5.God's servants will be victorious. Portrayed very graphically here in the resurrection of the two witnesses. 6.By God's grace the elect will be saved."
Thank God we live in a country, where the 1st Amendment is more or less followed.
Revelation 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
