FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Rev. D. James Kennedy, a pioneering megachurch pastor who became one of the nation's most prominent Christian broadcasters and a key figure in the rise of the religious right, died Wednesday, a church spokesman said. He was 76.
Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church spokesman John Aman said Kennedy died at about 2:15 a.m. at his home in Fort Lauderdale. He had suffered a heart attack in December and announced his retirement last month.
Kennedy took the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale from a congregation of 45 in 1959 to a megachurch of nearly 10,000 members today.
He also founded the Center for Christian Statesmanship in Washington, organizing Capitol Hill Bible studies and other events that attracted top government officials and encouraged them "to embrace God's providential purpose for this nation."...

I must say that I have had occasion to hear D. James Kennedy proclaim THE TRUTH on Christian TV and I found him to be most agreeable --- I'm sure we will see him IN HEAVEN !!!
Some here have said some rather strong words against him --- he wasn't perfect and I never heard him profess to be so --- but his LOVE FOR GOD AND HIS SON WAS TRUE --- he was merely a man SEEKING TO WALK WITH THE LORD --- he WAS A BROTHER *IN* Christ !!!

Most of the so-called right wing conservative leaders in Congress and government are at best homosexual, at worst pedophiles and worse. The hideous truth is that the most evil men in the world are posing as the most righteous.
Please people, wake up. Doesn't it make sense? Why do you think they call them "Secret societies?" They CANNOT do what they do in public because the people would not tolerate it. So they pose as one thing during the day or in public, but in private they do their unspeakable evil. Larry Craig is a recent example.
It is sad when any person dies. Whether D. James Kennedy was born again or not is not for us to say. I pray his family is born again and drawing near to our Lord Jesus Christ in their time of grieving.
There are some things we need to be aware of, though, concerning Kennedy's ministry. He had a long and open history of ecumenism. There was even a "gospel" message on his website by Pope Benedict. If you think I'm mean spirited for saying it you need revival.

I don't wish to be divisive or detract from the subject at hand, but Proverbs 31 praises women twice... in verse 28 and verse 31. I see no reason why this can not equally apply to Dr. Kennedy.
The article has a mistake in it. Dr. Kennedy did not suffer a heart attack. His daughter corrected this in the following statement:
"They were able to interrogate my dad's pacemaker which showed he went into a heart rhythm called "v-tach", which stands for ventricular tachycardia. This rhythm will not sustain life. It's like his heart stopped. When this occurred, his brain was without a good supply of oxygen for approximately six to eight minutes which caused permanent damage. People have said he had a heart attack, that he's had a stroke, and some have even said he has Alzheimer's disease. None of that is true and the cognitive difficulties that he has are as a result of his brain being without oxygen."
