Colorado Student Files Lawsuit Over Commencement Speech That Mentioned Jesus
DENVER — A student who said she was told she wouldn't get her diploma unless she apologized for a commencement speech in which she mentioned Jesus has filed a lawsuit alleging her free speech rights were violated.
The school district contends its actions were "constitutionally appropriate."
Erica Corder was one of 15 valedictorians at Lewis-Palmer High School in 2006. All were invited to speak for 30 seconds at the graduation ceremony. When it was Corder's turn, she encouraged the audience to get to know Jesus Christ.
Corder had not included those remarks during rehearsals.
She has filed a lawsuit alleging her free speech rights were violated ???
SHE HAS DONE THE RIGHT THING !!!
It was her 30 seconds -- no one told her what to say -- IT WAS ***HER RIGHT*** TO SAY WHAT WAS ON HER HEART !!!
You Go Girl !!!
Let us not "Over Spiritualize" it !!!
"We" MUST STAND AND SAY --- ENOUGH IS ***ENOUGH*** !!!
Dumbed down ReLiGiOn and a people who have forgotten THE TRUTH ABOUT America's History --- all of which have been bombarded with so many lies for so long that they do now accept the lies as Truth... (???) --- Just utter stupidity !!! --- A people who stand for NOTHING and having jelly for a backbone fall for anything and everything...
If "Our" Forefathers would have been as blind and stupid as "We" have become this Republic wouldn't have even gotten past Its first one hundred years --- more than likely It never would have gotten off the ground -- ***It would have been built upon the wrong foundation*** !!!
While I admire this girl for testifying about Christ. She should not be surprised that there would be negative reaction to her comments.
"Acts 5 41 They therefore went their way from [the] presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonoured for the name. Matthew 5 10 Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens. Luke 6 22 Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from them], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as wicked, for the Son of man's sake:"
One wonders if anyone espousing Islam or atheism would suffer the same punishment?
